BBC announces the return of THREE antique programmes – with one a celebrity spin-off of popular show

The BBC has announced the return of three of its popular vintage programmes.

New series The Traveling Auctioneers, Antiques Road Trip and Celebrity Antiques Road Trip were commissioned by the broadcaster.

Antiques Road Trip has been recommissioned for a twenty-ninth series to be broadcast on BBC One, while the thirteenth series of the famous version will air on BBC Two.

Celebrity Antiques Roadshow has featured Sir Terry Wogan, Deborah Meaden, Craig Revel Horwood, Gemma Collins and Melvin Odoom.

The programs see auction experts join forces with masters of restoration to uncover neglected treasures in family homes that, with a little love, can hopefully be turned into winning tickets at auction.

The Traveling Auctioneers was named Best Daytime Show at the 2023 RTS Scotland Program Awards.

Muslim Alim, editor-in-chief of BBC Daytime and Early Peak, said: ‘Get ready for a wealth of entertainment! With their long track record, we are pleased to be working with STV Studios on these returning hit series.

‘All three promise to deliver immersive journeys from across Britain as experts source, restore and auction unique finds.’

Craig Hunter, Creative Director Factual at STV Studios, which is creating all three series, said: “I am delighted with the continued success of these returning STV Studios formats.

“This order is a testament to the BBC’s commitment to the Nations and I couldn’t be prouder of the hardworking teams who continue to put a fresh spin on these much-loved brands.”

Other antique-inspired BBC shows include Antique Roadshow, The Repair Shop and Bargain Hunt.

Antiques Roadshow is the longest running British television series about the valuation of antiques, broadcast on 18 February 1979.

The program started as a 1977 BBC documentary about a London auction house touring England’s West Country.
