Kyle Walker was shown a yellow card on Tuesday night for colliding with Neal Maupay in the second half of Man City’s clash with Brentford at the Eithad, just weeks after the pair clashed in a heated verbal argument.

Maupay was welcomed onto the pitch by loud boos from City fans and bore the brunt of a heavy tackle from Walker in the 82nd minute.

City’s Treble-winning star collided with Maupay after a loose ball and was subsequently shown a yellow card by referee Darren England as the hosts led 1-0.

Maupay and Walker previously clashed on February 5 during City’s 3-1 win over the Bees, when the England international accused the Brentford player of talking about his family.

The Brentford striker has become one of the biggest players in the English top flight after also colliding with James Maddison in Brentford’s defeat to Tottenham at the end of January.

Maupay strongly denied trying to rile Walker by talking about the City full-back’s family and children during their on-pitch engagement.

An expert lip reader revealed to Mail Sport at the time that Walker had told the fourth official at the Gtech Community Stadium that he was going to ‘knock out’ Maupay.

The England international continued his tirade, saying: ‘Ref, he spoke about my children, he spoke about my children, not once, but twice.’

The previous confrontation came as Walker’s personal life was the subject of intense debate after he revealed he had fathered a second child from an affair with model Lauryn Goodman.

He had already fathered a son, three-year-old Kairo, with Lauryn following a previous split from Annie Kilner in 2020.

In a rare interview about his personal life, Kyle was close to tears as he reflected on moving from their family home in Cheshire and being forced to spend time away from his three children with Annie, who is currently pregnant with their fourth.

He told The sun: ‘What I did is terrible and I take full responsibility. I made crazy choices and crazy decisions. I can’t imagine what Annie is going through.’

Maupay’s Brentford teammate Ivan Toney warned ahead of Tuesday night’s match at the Etihad that the pair were ready to ‘rattle’ Pep Guardiola’s side.

‘Playing with him up front is interesting. “We both know what we have to do to win, and we both know what we have to do to upset people, get into people’s heads and help them win games,” he told the Evening Standard.
