Kyle Sandilands Reveals Heartbreaking Reason He Doesn’t Drink Alcohol And Prefers Weed Over Therapy

Kyle Sandilands painfully admitted Tuesday that the reason he abstains from drinking alcohol is because he comes from a family of ‘ugly’ drinkers.

The 51-year-old Australian Idol judge said that as a child, members of his family misbehaved when drunk, prompting police to be called to his home several times.

‘When everyone was drinking, the police would show up. Then dad would throw empty milk bottles at the police car,’ he revealed in The Great Jess Rowe Talk Show.

Kyle Sandilands painfully admitted Tuesday that the reason he abstains from drinking alcohol is because he comes from a family of ‘ugly’ drinkers.

Kyle said that as a result of his difficult upbringing, the only alcohol he drank was the occasional glass of champagne at social events.

She then said that her friends had advised her to see a therapist to work out her emotions, but that she felt “things were fine now” so she didn’t want to revisit the difficult memories.

‘If I get too excited, I’ll just have a joint. I love weed,’ she joked.

Kyle said his recreational smoking served the dual purpose of numbing his pain and being “so much fun.”

The radio host also told Jess that he ‘loves’ being a father, and being with his son and his partner has opened up his ‘softer side’.

Kyle admitted that smoking pot sometimes helped him numb painful childhood memories.

Kyle admitted that his tough exterior may stem from some unresolved childhood trauma.

‘I am what I am. I am tough, I am all these things. Not a lot of people see the soft side, the people I’ve worked with, some see the soft side, my partner does, obviously,” she said.

“A lot of the toughness may have been a facade early in my life just to soak up all the pain and push through the prologue.

‘I didn’t know what I was going to do. I had no education, nothing, no prospects, I got fired from some radio jobs.

“I didn’t know if the boss says, ‘hey, don’t do that, you can’t confront him,’ and starts swearing and insulting him without getting fired. So I learned it the slow way.
