Kmart shoppers are wowed by the latest summer essential to hit shelves – and it costs just $10.
Also known as a “car umbrella,” this clever device isn’t meant to keep you from getting wet when the storm clouds roll in.
It is intended to protect your car from the scorching summer sun.
The product has been called a ‘genius invention’ by those who brought it home after the Australian man Michael Jamies video of it went viral.
Unlike most sunshades, which Michael described as flimsy and annoying, the Kmart gadget pops up like an umbrella.
The spring-loaded support makes it easier for drivers to set up the umbrella and ensures it retains its shape all day long.
“You don’t have to worry about it falling down,” he said.
His car has leather seats which makes it even more important to have a good sun canopy.
Michael Jamie posted the device on Instagram and TikTok, where it went viral
“No more flimsy solar reflector for me, thank you, thank you Kmart,” he wrote, sharing the gadget with his fans.
Hundreds of people responded to the video, which quickly went viral.
“Wait, this is SO GENIUS,” one woman wrote.
“I need to invest in one of these,” said another.
But others weren’t so sure.
‘Isn’t opening an umbrella bad luck?!’ wrote one woman.
“I can’t be fooled, I’m not opening that thing inside,” another joked.
