The official coronation ceremony of King Charles III is getting closer as Saturday, May 6, 2023 approaches.
From free TV licenses to expanded coverage packages and in-depth documentaries, leading broadcasters have announced their plans for the coronation.
This will be only the second ever televised coronation as King Charles is crowned the reigning monarch of the United Kingdom.
Ahead of the historic day, here’s a full rundown on how to watch the coronation.

BBC coverage of the coronation
The BBC will broadcast the proceedings on its network, with the coronation available to watch on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.
The broadcast starts at 07:30.
The broadcaster will also show a sign language version on BBC Two, with Petroc Trelawny providing accessible coverage via the red button.
The broadcaster has also confirmed a special one-off TV license exemption for the coronation of HM King Charles III.
If you are organizing an event, you do not need a TV license to show the coronation on May 6, 2023 or the coronation concert on May 7, 2023.
However, there will be no screens along the processional route.
To view the broadcast of events (including the Coronation Service), you must visit one of the screening sites.
These are located in Hyde Park, The Green Park or St James’ Park.
If you are traveling to London please note that London Victoria station may only be used for the Hyde Park screening site, with closures around the station.

Sky News report on the coronation
Sky News coverage will be led by presenter Kay Burley, who will report live from Westminster Abbey as troops involved in the coronation take up positions.
From 9am, Anna Botting will be reporting live from Buckingham Palace in the run-up to the ceremony. This cover includes the procession to Westminster Abbey.
As the day draws to a close, Mark Austin will be reviewing the day’s events from Buckingham Palace between 5pm and 8pm.
From 8-9pm, Gillian Joseph will recap the best moments of the day, including a look at celebrations across the UK.
Sky is rounding out its coverage with a special coronation highlights package from 9pm to 10pm.
ITV coverage of the coronation
It has been confirmed that Tom Bradby will lead ITV’s coverage alongside Julie Etchingham.
The News at Ten Anchor, who is friends with the Duke of Sussex, will present from a dedicated studio outside Buckingham Palace.
ITV’s list of presenters for the event includes Mary Nightingale, Nina Hossain, Charlene White and James Mates, who will be in key venues across the country.
ITV’s coverage of the coronation begins at 8.30am.
Good Morning Britain presenters Susanna Reid and Ben Shephard will be live from Westminster Abbey from 6am, while Ranvir Singh will be on arrival to address guests at the coronation ceremony.
Kate Garraway will be live from Buckingham Palace, Charlotte Hawkins will be with the Armed Forces and Laura Tobin will be live from the Long Walk in Windsor.
Spice Girl Mel B and Jonathan Dimbleby are among the guests for ITV.

From 8.30am Bradby and Etchingham present King Charles III: The Coronation from a studio outside Buckingham Palace. The program can be seen on ITV1.
There will be commentary from Nightingale outside Westminster Abbey and Mates will explain the ancient traditions and rituals on screen.
Hossain will be with the crowd in the Mall and White will be reporting from RAF Waddington where the Red Arrows will be preparing for a flypast.
A special section of ITVX features documentaries from the broadcaster’s catalog about the monarch.
Michael Jermey, ITV’s director of news and current affairs, said: ‘ITV’s uninterrupted coverage on the day of the coronation will capture every key moment of a historically significant event. We will give viewers a close-up view of all the pageantry and public celebrations.” iNews.

Channel 4 coronation coverage
Channel 4 will offer viewers an alternative viewing experience at the coronation, including a documentary about Prince Andrew’s infamous Newsnight interview.
‘Andrew – The Problem Prince’ will air in two parts and former BBC journalist Emily Maitlis will reveal how she questioned Andrew about his relationship with the late billionaire sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.
The deep dive also includes archive footage, an interview with former Newsnight producer Sam McAlister, and snippets with palace insiders.
Channel 4 will air a special documentary entitled ‘Andrew – The Problem Prince’, exploring how former BBC journalist Emily Maitlis came to question Andrew about his relationship with the late billionaire sex offender Jeffrey Epstein
The broadcaster will also broadcast Frankie Boyle’s Farewell To The Monarchy, in which the Scottish comedian, 50, looks back on its more than 1,000-year history and asks whether the royal family ‘has a place in today’s world’ and ‘should continue?’.
The Windsors Coronation Special will see Harry EnfieldAs King, invite the Duke and Duchess of Sussex to his special day, as the comedy show returns for a one-off special.
On Saturday, Channel 4 says the program will offer ‘an escape from the pomp and circumstance’.
Movies are shown, including Johnny English, The Italian Job, Star Trek Beyond and Con Air, as well as episodes of Everybody Loves Raymond and King of Queens.
