Kim Kardashian has used her celebrity to help free more than a dozen people from prison for non-violent drug crimes, now she’s being asked to help solve an international humanitarian crisis.

On Saturday, dozens of Armenian-American protesters blocked access to the exclusive Hidden Hills community in Calabasas, California, where the 42-year-old reality star lives with her children.

Several other members of the famous family live in the community, including sisters Kourtney, 44, Khloe, 38, Kylie Jenner, 26, and their mother Kris Jenner, 67.

During Saturday’s demonstration, protesters waved Armenian flags and held up signs reading “Kim, speak up for Artsakh” and “Kim, your people need you.”

The Kardashians star was likely targeted by protesters due to family ties to the community.

Protesters have been organizing traffic blockades in the Los Angeles area for several weeks to draw attention to what they say is an ongoing crisis in the tiny Republic of Artsakh, home to some 120,000 ethnic Armenians.

Together with the government of Armenia, they have called on the United Nations Security Council to hold an emergency meeting on the humanitarian situation there.

They claim the crisis was triggered when the government of Azerbaijan in December set up a blockade on the only road connecting Artsakh to Armenia.

In January, representatives of Armenia told the World Court that the blockade was for “ethnic cleansing” Reuters.

Earlier this month, Azerbaijani UN Ambassador Yashar Aliyev responded by “categorically rejecting all baseless and baseless allegations about (a) blockade or humanitarian crisis propagated by Armenia against my country,” said Al Jazeera.

The area has been a source of contention between Armenia and Azerbaijan for over a century after the collapse of the Russian Empire in 1918.

After Kim was first accused of a tone-deaf response to the situation, Kim quickly turned around and began to support the ongoing demonstrations in which women risked their lives to protest against the Iranian regime.

The public protests in Iran are over, but according to NPR more and more women feel comfortable not wearing their hijabs or head coverings in public.

Unfortunately, the government is now working on a law that would allegedly require a strict dress code for women.
