Kim Cattrall will make a shocking return as Sex And The City’s Samantha Jones for the second season of spin-off And Just Like That — despite her explosive feud with star Sarah Jessica Parker.
According to VarietyCattrall, 66, returns for just one scene, which she shot in New York City on March 22, without seeing or speaking to stars SJP, Cynthia Nixon and Kristin Davis. The scene was also shot without AJLT showrunner Michael Patrick King.
In the scene, Samantha, who has moved to London, will have a phone conversation with Parker’s Carrie Bradshaw.
Sex And The City designer Patricia Field, who is not the costume designer for AJLT, dressed Samantha for the scene.
She is back! Kim Cattrall will make a shocking return as Sex And The City’s Samantha Jones for the second season of spin-off And Just Like That’s second season — despite her explosive feud with star Sarah Jessica Parker
Hell is frozen: According to Variety, Cattrall, 66, will return for just one scene, which she shot in New York City on March 22, without seeing stars SJP, Cynthia Nixon and Kristin Davis (pictured together in SATC season) or speak six)
Patricia has publicly pledged her allegiance to Kim since the show ended, and last December said she was interested in doing a series with her,
That said the two-time Emmy winner Page six: ‘I would like to do a show with [Kim].’
In December, Patricia also criticized Cynthia Nixon for her fashion demands when asked about her former assistant Molly Rogers’ work styling the cast on HBO Max’s And Just Like That.
The Oscar nominee admitted she liked “some of it, but not all of it,” during an interview with the Sunday Times.
She added, “I know those girls! Sarah Jessica [Parker] thinks she knows everything – and she does. Cynthia Nixon thinks she knows everything – and she doesn’t! Even today, when I speak to Molly, it’s about Cynthia.
I say, “I remember what you’re going through.
“
Speaking of Kim’s absence from the popular series, Field said, “It’s a vacuum. I hear it everywhere. Everyone’s mad she’s not in it.’
DailyMail.com revealed exclusively in September 2017 that a third Sex and the City movie was essentially “torpedoed” due to Cattrall’s outrageous demands.
Cattrall reportedly demanded that Warner Bros. acted and produced other films she was developing or she wouldn’t be starring in Sex and the City 3.
Parker, Nixon, and Davis were all set to reprise their roles, with production slated for that fall, though the project completely fell apart and never went into production.
Cattrall denied the story, tweeting, “The only demand I ever made was that I didn’t want to make a third movie…and that was in 2016.”
Tensions had reportedly built up between Cattrall and the rest of the cast since the show’s inception, which escalated when one of her only allies – creator Darren Star – left the show and was replaced by Michael Patrick King, who played And Just Like That created.
The feud escalated in 2018 when Cattrall berated Parker for speaking in a TV interview about Kim’s brother Christopher, who was found dead in Canada.
“Your constant reaching out is a painful reminder of how cruel you really were then and now. Let me make this VERY clear. (If I haven’t already) You are not my family.
You are not my friend. So I’m writing to tell you one last time to stop exploiting our tragedy to restore your ‘nice girl’ persona,” Cattrall said in the post
Needless to say, most weren’t surprised when Cattrall wasn’t part of And Just Like That… with the actress revealing she was never asked to be part of the show.
In the first episode of And Just Like That… it was revealed that her character, Samantha Jones, now lives in London.
In February, SJP also revealed that she doesn’t want Kim to come back and reprise her role as Samantha Jones.
In a new interview with VarietyParke was asked if she’d be “OK” if Cattrall could come back to the show if a “miracle happened,” after their very public feud exploded in 2018.
Proving that the door is firmly closed on Cattrall, Parker responded, “I don’t think I would, because I think there’s just too much public history of feelings on her part that she’s shared.”
New Chapter: The next season of season two of AJLT will premiere June 22 on Max
Addition: “I have not participated in or read any articles, although people tend to let me know.”
“We didn’t go to Kim for this, you know,” Parker said. “After we didn’t make the movie and the studio couldn’t fulfill what she wanted to do, we need to hear her and listen to her and what was important to her.”
‘It didn’t fit in with what was important or necessary for us. There’s a very clear line between Samantha and Kim,” Parker continued.
‘Samantha’s not gone. Samantha’s present, and I think it was treated with such respect and elegance. She was not villainous. She was a human being who had feelings about a relationship, so I think we found a way to handle it, which was necessary and important for people who loved her.”
