Kyle Sandilands has revealed that he spent a staggering $100,000 to fly home on a private jet to see his family while filming Australian Idol.

The shock jock said he “had to” shell out a large sum of money while traveling across Australia during auditions so he could go home to spend time with his fiancĂ©e Tegan Kynaston and their son Otto.

speaking to The Great Jess Rowe Talk Showthe radio host said, “Even while we were filming all the auditions for Australian Idol, all the judges were like, ‘Oh, we’re off to the Gold Coast and how much free time do we have?’

Kyle Sandilands has revealed that he spent a staggering $100,000 to fly home on a private jet to see his family while filming Australian Idol.

“I had to hire a private jet to leave the Gold Coast at 11:30pm at night so I could get home to see my son and my fiancĂ©e.

“I just wanted to be with them and it cost me like $100,000 to fly here to Adelaide, Gold Coast to Canberra.

“They said, well, there’s the Idol budget, but I didn’t want to wait on the Gold Coast for another day.”

The 51-year-old is a judge on the rebooted season of Australian Idol which premiered on Channel 7 last Monday.

The controversial radio host is the only original judge to return to the show, and now he’s joined by singers Harry Connick Jr, Megan Trainor and Amy Shark.

Auditions for the new series were filmed across the country late last year, when Kyle’s baby was just a couple months old.

The announcer said that he “loves” being a father, and being with his son and his partner has revealed his “more tender side.”

In the extensive interview with Rowe, Kyle admitted that his tough exterior may stem from some childhood trauma that he hasn’t dealt with properly.

‘I am what I am. I am tough, I am all these things. Not a lot of people see the soft side, the people I’ve worked with, some see the soft side, my partner does, obviously,” she said.

“A lot of the toughness may have been a facade early in my life just to soak up all the pain and push through the prologue.

‘I didn’t know what I was going to do. I had no education, nothing, no prospects, I got fired from some radio jobs because I didn’t know if the boss would say “hey don’t do that, you can’t confront him” and start swearing and insulting him. without being fired. So I learned it the slow way.”
