Kevin McCarthy warns FBI must release document linking Biden to alleged ‘bribery scheme’

House Speaker Kevin McCarthy says he will speak personally to FBI Director Chris Wray and demand he turn over a document that is inside his desk allegedly linking President Biden to a criminal money-for-access program when he became Deputy was president.

‘There are checks and balances and supervision. Congress is entitled to that knowledge and I will have a meeting with Director Wray and make sure that happens,” McCarthy told reporters Thursday after the passage of a comprehensive immigration bill in the House.

Last week, Sen. Chuck Grassley, R-Iowa and Comer revealed that a whistleblower had made astounding claims about a document allegedly linking Joe Biden to a “criminal scheme” for bribing a foreigner when he was vice president.

The internal FD-1023 form apparently spells out an “arrangement” for an exchange of money for policy decisions, Republicans said.

Lawmakers issued a subpoena to FBI Director Christopher Wray demanding that the document be handed over with a May 10 deadline — which did not happen.

After the deadline passed, the top Republican on the House Oversight Committee, James Comer, R-Ky., accused the FBI of “refusing” to provide the document to his committee.

The Republican allegations mark a major update in the Republican ‘influence peddling’ investigation into the Biden family and Hunter Biden’s overseas business deals

The House Oversight Committee released a new memo on Wednesday specifically outlining the Biden family’s ties to Romanian “influence peddling” and a web of LLCs created while Biden was vice president

If at any point the FBI thinks they can withhold information from Congress, we have a serious problem.”

The FBI’s position is “trust, but don’t verify.” That is unacceptable. We intend to contact the FBI and expect compliance with the subpoena,” Comer said in a statement to DailyMail.com.

Grassley said that while the FBI has not provided the document, they have offered a “matching process” that indicates the “document is genuine.”

He said Wednesday’s response letter to top Republicans only raises additional questions, including “whether the FBI has an open investigation based on these allegations.”

McCarthy also mentioned his plan to call the FBI director in an interview with Fox & Friends earlier Thursday.

“I’m going to call Director Wray today because we’re overseeing the FBI. We have the right. Comer is just following the information he found,” he said.

“We have oversight of the FBI. If at any point the FBI thinks they can withhold information from Congress, we have a serious problem,” the speaker continued.

It is not immediately clear whether the call between McCarthy and Wray took place as of Friday afternoon.

The FBI confirmed to DailyMail.com that it had issued a response to Republicans on Wednesday, but disputed Grassley’s claim that it proves the existence of the specific document alleged by the whistleblower.

“An FD-1023 form is used by FBI agents to record unverified reporting by a confidential human source. Documenting the information does not validate it, establish its credibility, or weigh it against other information verified by the FBI,” a spokesman said.

Disclosure of unverified or potentially incomplete information could harm investigations, jeopardize prosecutions or legal proceedings, dishonestly violate privacy or reputation, create a false impression with the public, or potentially identify individuals who provide information to law enforcement, thereby their physical safety is at risk.

“Information from confidential human sources and members of the public is critical to the work of the FBI, and we are also committed to protecting the confidentiality of anyone who comes forward.”

The subpoena for the document marked a major update in the Republican investigation into “influence peddling” in the Biden family — including all the way to Biden’s grandchildren.

Iam Sams, White House spokesman for oversight and investigation, called the GOP subpoena for the document “baseless” and “politically motivated.”

“For five years now, Republicans in Congress have been lobbying against baseless politically motivated attacks [President Biden] without providing evidence for their claims. Or evidence of decisions influenced by something other than US interests,” he claimed.

Sams added that Biden was “unprecedented” with his level of transparency, releasing a total of 25 years’ worth of tax returns to the US public

The House Oversight Committee has accused 10 members of the Biden family — including Hunter and Hallie — of being involved in ‘shady’ business deals that took advantage of the family name

“The information provided by a whistleblower raises concerns that then-Vice President Biden was allegedly involved in a bribery scheme with a foreigner,” Comer said Wednesday.

The House Oversight Committee has accused 10 members of the Biden family — including Hunter and Hallie — of being involved in “shady” business deals that took advantage of the family name.

Earlier on Wednesday, the committee released a new memo specifically outlining the Biden family’s ties to Romanian “influence peddling” and a web of LLCs while Biden was vice president.

It also accuses President Biden of a “lack of transparency” regarding his family’s receipt of money from China, which he said is “untrue.”

It details the family’s attempts to hide, hide and confuse sources of money — including more Chinese money, according to a commission aide.

The White House refuses to correct the president’s statement. The president is now using the federal government to intervene for his family and his own role in these plans,” Comer said at a news conference announcing the memo Wednesday.
