Kaylee Gain is breathing on her own and stable two weeks after Missouri schoolgirl, 15, was filmed having her head bashed off concrete by bully

Kaylee Gain is breathing on her own and in a stable condition, two weeks after the schoolgirl was seen on film having her head repeatedly slammed into the ground.

Kaylee, 16, of St. Louis, Missouri, was left in life-threatening condition by another student who repeatedly hit her head against concrete.

She suffered a skull fracture and frontal lobe damage during the violent March 8 brawl that was caught on camera near her high school.

An update on a GoFundMe set up for the teen and her family confirmed she was breathing on her own and had been moved out of intensive care.

It said: ‘We are happy to share that Kaylee is breathing on her own, remains stable and the best news yet is that we have been moved out of the intensive care unit.

“We are truly blessed by the outpouring of support and your prayers. It means so much to us!’

A video of the incident circulated on social media, showing another girl slamming the teen’s head into the concrete after throwing multiple punches and throwing her to the ground.

Kaylee appeared to be having a fit as groups of other teens argued just a few feet away.

Police found the girl with serious head injuries near the intersection of Norgate Drive and Claudine Drive, a short walk from the school.

After news of the altercation broke, the Hazelwood School District released a statement condemning the community violence.

“It is a tragedy when children are injured,” the statement read. ‘Bullying and fighting in the community is an issue that we must all take responsibility for and work to resolve for the sake of our children.

“The Hazelwood School District extends our sincere condolences to all involved and will provide additional emotional support from our support and crisis team to those in need.”

Kaylee’s family says she wants “justice through the legal system” but begged other teens not to seek revenge on her alleged attacker.

Her devastated relatives previously said they would not know the extent of her injuries until she wakes up in a statement released by their lawyer.

They confirmed that Kaylee “suffered a skull fracture that resulted in brain bleeding and swelling” and was still unconscious at the time.

“While the family would like to see justice ultimately served through the legal system, their focus at this time is solely on Kaylee’s recovery,” her family said.

‘The family is also asking all members of the community at large to come together to denounce teen violence and bullying, as there have been far too many recent examples of teen violence resulting in significant injuries and in some cases even led to deaths.

“Kaylee’s parents would like to make a special request to their fellow parents in the community to ask them to teach their children that physical violence and bullying are never appropriate, and to emphasize to their children that the lives of both perpetrators of teen violence and the Victims of violence can be changed permanently and forever as a result of violent incidents that last only a few minutes.

“Finally, the family would like to emphasize that they do not want any form of retaliation against anyone who was directly or indirectly involved in this incident.”

The statement ends with a prayer for Kaylee’s “full recovery” and hopes that “teenagers realize that temporary acts of violence can have life-changing consequences” by reading about the highly publicized attack.

The alleged attacker’s family has hit back at calls to charge the 15-year-old girl as an adult.

Speaking to DailyMail.com, her aunt confirmed that she was an honor roll student at Hazelwood East High School with an exemplary record and that she “defended herself” during the fight with Kaylee.

The family has created a petition on Change.org calling on the St. Louis Juvenile Court to show “compassion” to the schoolgirl, DailyMail.com reported.

Her aunt said Kaylee was not being bullied by her niece and urged people to donate to help with her legal bills as the situation was not exactly what it seemed.

The fundraiser, which was removed by GoFundMe, said the teen was “unfairly” portrayed as a bully and that she is the victim “in a complicated situation.”

The girl has been charged with assault and is being held in St. Louis Family Court, with a hearing expected in early April.
