Katy Perry expressed her heartfelt gratitude to her fans after they showered her with love during her electrifying performance at Rock in Rio.
The 39-year-old Swish Swish singer celebrated the success of the concert, which also marked the release of her new album 143, via Instagram on Saturday.
In the accompanying clip, the pop star shines in a tiny green bikini as she beams with enthusiasm at the overwhelming response from the audience.
Standing on the balcony of her hotel in the Brazilian capital, she threw pink roses into the night.
“And that, my friends, is the end of Brazil,” Perry said, her joy evident as the roses drifted down. “We love you so much, we will always be there for you, time and time again, just as you have been there for me, time and time again.”

She concluded: ‘They sang so loud on the show last night, it was the loudest I’ve ever heard anyone sing my songs. I love you so much, for everything.’
The crowd had every reason to go wild as the former American Idol judge delivered an unforgettable performance, complete with breathtaking aerial stunts on stage.

This was followed by popular songs such as California Gurls and the timeless anthem Teenage Dream.
However, her long-awaited seventh studio album 143 was not well received by music critics on Thursday night after it was released on streaming platforms.
143 — which references the phrase “I love you” but which Perry also considers her symbolic “angel number” — is her first album in four years, following 2020’s Smile.
A scathing review from a leading entertainment company stated that Perry “struggles to regain his former glory on the flat 143.”
Much of the criticism, even before the album’s release, centered on Perry’s decision to work with her longtime music producer Dr. Luke, who last year settled his long-running sexual harassment lawsuit with Kesha — a claim he has vehemently denied.

But even with the hitmaker on board – he produces 10 of the 11 tracks – the reaction so far has not been exactly positive.
Critic Steven J. Horowitz writes for Variety: ‘The album is flat, riding on cascades of lyrical clichés and musical ideas that rarely reach a crescendo. On many of the 11 songs, Perry sounds disaffected and distant, as if she’d just been tapping away between takes of ‘American Idol.’
“There’s little of the wit that fueled some of her biggest hits on the album. It’s a disappointing departure from the wit she once so effortlessly exuded.”
Horowitz adds that some of the songs sound “mechanical” and that the song Crush sounds like a Vengaboys B-side.
He adds: ‘Like on her previous albums, the lyrics on ‘143’ are full of clichés, as if generated by artificial intelligence.’
In the meantime, The guard gave the album two out of five stars, saying it was “not the disaster you’d expect, but it’s not good either.”
Earlier this month, Katy defended her decision to work with Dr. Luke during her appearance on Call Her Daddy, addressing the controversy for the first time.
“I understand it sparked a lot of conversation,” she said of her choice. “And he was one of many collaborators that I worked with.”
The Wide Awake singer stressed that Luke is just someone who helps her ‘facilitate’ her music.

She continued, “But the reality is, it’s coming from me. The truth is, I wrote these songs from my experience of my whole life going through this metamorphosis, and he was one of the people who helped facilitate all of that — one of the writers, one of the producers.
Despite all the criticism, Perry has still received positive reviews from fans on X.
Her husband Orlando Bloom has also been supportive during the disappointing launch, cheering her on at the 2024 MTV VMAs last week.
Prior to the release of 143, Katy was honored at the 2024 MTV Video Music Awards, where she received the prestigious Video Vanguard Award.
