Kate Middleton breaks tradition with a note thanking royal fans for their “kind” wishes during her health scare

Kensington Palace has handed out thank you cards to members of the public who sent their well wishes to the Princess of Wales as she undergoes chemotherapy.

42-year-old Kate announced at the end of March via an emotional video message that she is in the early stages of treatment after being diagnosed with cancer.

During the clip, the future queen said it had been an “incredibly tough few months” for her family, but she was doing well and getting stronger every day.

Since the public learned of the Princess’ health struggles, other working royals who have stepped in have received cards and notes to give to Kate. Royal fans have also sent them to the palace.

One woman received a letter from the Palace on Saturday after sending Kate a card wishing her well after learning she was undergoing abdominal surgery in January.

The short note, which is printed on a card and appears at the top of the palace letterhead, read: ‘Thank you for your kind wishes to Her Royal Highness The Princess of Wales.

“Your thoughtful gesture is greatly appreciated.”

The palace usually sends cards on special occasions such as birthdays and Christmas, when they receive correspondence from royal fans.

The postcard is left blank, which is unusual because correspondence from the royal family usually includes a photo.

Allex Marie took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to express her gratitude for the note, adding that she would “cherish this for the rest of my life.”

She wrote: ‘When we learned in January that our beautiful Princess of Wales had undergone surgery, I sent her a card with our (my family and I) sincere wishes for healing and of course an abundance of love.

‘Today I have received this wonderful recognition and I can honestly say that I will cherish it all my life.

‘The envelope says Kensington Palace on the back lol man (sic) thought he had to get his suit out of the closet for a garden party (silly him) but he is as blown away as I am to receive this beautiful, and much loved card .

“Continued prayers and healing for our beautiful Princess of Wales.”

Others also posted the note wishing Kate would get better soon, adding that they would be grateful for the note.

The mother-of-three has been at the center of conspiracy theories circulating online questioning her disappearance after surgery, despite the palace claiming she needed time to recover from her operation at the start of the year.

Speak with PEOPLEa former Palace aide said the interest in Kate’s health was a ‘complex response’.

They explained: ‘There was no malicious intent. But it brought out this pent-up feeling that people wanted information; that, unfortunately, is the curse of modern royalty.’

King Charles has also been diagnosed with cancer after undergoing a procedure for an enlarged prostate at the same hospital as Kate in January.

In early February, Buckingham Palace broke the news that he had been diagnosed with a form of cancer, adding that it is not prostate cancer but was discovered during his treatment.

He has since praised his daughter-in-law for her courage to speak out about her condition.

“His Majesty is ‘so proud of Catherine for her courage to speak as she did,'” Buckingham Palace said.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex also said: ‘We wish Kate and the family health and healing, and hope they can do this privately and in peace.’
