Kate Abdo broke down in tears while talking about her late father on an episode of her weekly soccer show “Kickin’ It.”

The 42-year-old CBS host was visibly emotional as she revealed how her father, Tom Giles, passed away in December.

A Manchester United fan, Abdo spent time traveling with her father to Old Trafford to watch the Red Devils in action.

The British broadcaster said her time watching sport with her father meant “the world” to her and insisted it taught her a lot.

Talking about her father during the latest episode of ‘The Kicking’Abdo said: “That’s why it made me emotional [thinking about my dad].

She added: “I just lost my dad in December. The time I spent with him in the sport was everything to me.

‘So it was special to hear how much that meant to you. We all know that sports build character.

‘The thing about sport is that it teaches you determination, dedication and endurance, because you have to get on with things.

“What I love about who my father was was the example he was for me. The good character he was to me. Also the fun we had in those moments.

‘I’m divorced. I was married for a while and he gave the speech at my wedding. One of the things he said to me was that at some point in your life you look back and never wish you had spent more time at work.

“You will always appreciate family for the moments you had. So yes. It’s just wonderful to hear what it means to another father.”

Abdo previously recalled growing up attending matches at Old Trafford with her father before admitting her mother was a Liverpool supporter.

The CBS host also introduced her father to Peter Schmeichel as a special guest during their 2023 interview.
