Kanye West has finished restoring the childhood home in Chicago… in honor of late mother Donda

Kanye West has finished renovating the home he grew up in on Chicago’s South Side, as seen in a new series of photos.

West, 46, paid tribute to his late mother Donda — who died in November 2007 of heart disease following plastic surgery — with a black steel fence with the initials “DH,” short for “Donda’s House.”

The 150 m² house, where West and his mother lived when he was growing up in the 1980s, has three bedrooms and a bathroom.

Nearby sources told DailyMail.com that a friend of West’s goes to the house every day to maintain it.

The house has been the focus of municipal disputes in the past, as inspectors called for it to be demolished in 2017, but West and his team managed to secure permits that cleared the way for the full renovation that has taken place.

Topping the list of improvements to the home — which officials say was built around 1905 — is a new roof.

The property also includes a pair of wooden steps at the entrance and back, with surveillance by security cameras on both sides.

The backyard of Windy City’s residence contains a series of tree stumps painted with Jamaican colors of red, yellow, and green. A Haitian flag has also been planted near the stumps. Renovators removed a shed that had been in the backyard and redecorated the area.

An American flag sign with the caption “Long Outside” can be seen on a window in the house.

West had mentioned the nostalgic location in a number of his professional endeavors, including a 2011 online feature called Watch the Throne in which he toured the house with Jay-Z.

West, 46, is a father of four with ex-wife Kim Kardashian, 42: daughter North, 10, son Saint, seven, daughter Chicago, five, and son Psalm, four.

He took his then-wife and oldest child up north to visit the house in a 2018 edition of Kardashian’s former reality TV series Keeping Up With Kardashians.

West also used the house as a creative inspiration, as he commissioned a replica of it for a 2021 listening event for his album Donda at Chicago’s Soldier Field.

West has kept a relatively low profile in the six months since his Dec. 1 appearance on Alex Jones’ show Infowars, in which he lavishly praised the Nazis and Adolf Hitler.

“He didn’t kill six million Jews,” West said on the program, in which he appeared alongside white supremacist Nick Fuentes. “That is simply factually incorrect. I try not to shock.’

He continued, “I love Hitler. The Holocaust is not what happened…Hitler has many redeeming qualities…every human being has something of value that he has brought to the table, especially Hitler.”

The appearance came before West was banned from Twitter later that day for posting a photo of a swastika intertwined with a Star of David

The turbulent day capped a two-month period in which West dominated headlines after making a series of anti-Semitic remarks, which led to a number of companies cutting ties with him.

The race-related controversies began on October 3, 2022 when he and conservative commentator Candace Owens wore tops that read White Lives Matter at a Paris Fashion Week showcase for his Yeezy line.

West faced restrictions on his social media sites after tweeting on Oct. 8, “I’m a little sleepy tonight but when I wake up I’m going to die con 3 On JEWISH PEOPLE…”

He continued: The funny thing is that I can’t really be anti-Semitic because black people are actually Jewish too… you played with me and tried to blacken everyone who opposes your agenda.’

The professional ramifications of West’s repeated statements about anti-Semitism included Adidas cutting their ties with him over his behavior on October 25.

Foot Locker and Gap have pledged to pull Yeezy off their shelves, while fashion supporters including Vogue magazine and Balenciaga have publicly distanced themselves from the rapper/fashion designer.

The talent agency CAA removed West from the selection, while a documentary about West made by studio MRC was shelved.
