Kamala Harris finally reveals when she’ll sit down for her first interview since Biden withdrew

Vice President Kamala Harris and Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz will have their first joint interview with CNN on Thursday, according to a press release from the cable news network.

The interview will be conducted Thursday afternoon by CNN’s chief political correspondent and anchor Dana Bash in Georgia and will air at 9 p.m. ET.

The highly anticipated interview comes 39 days after Biden ended his re-election campaign and endorsed Harris.

Bash has earned the trust of President Biden’s White House and Harris’ team.

Bash interviewed Harris in April 2021, with the vice president saying she was the last person in the room when President Joe Biden decided to leave Afghanistan.

Bash also interviewed Harris in June 2022 about the Supreme Court’s decision to overturn Roe v. Wade.

Harris’ reluctance to sit down for an interview drew criticism from the media, but the vice president promised reporters she would schedule something by the end of the month.

Former President Donald Trump has repeatedly criticized Harris for her refusal to sit for an interview with the press or give a press conference.

“She doesn’t give any press conferences. Do you know why she doesn’t give any press conferences?” Trump asked reporters earlier this month. “Because she can’t give a press conference. She doesn’t know how to give a press conference. She’s not smart enough to give a press conference.”

As vice president, Harris has not held a press conference since December 2, 2023, during a trip to Dubai.
