Juventus ‘identify Álvaro Morata as an alternative to Romelu Lukaku’ – as Atletico Madrid striker ‘gives green light to THIRD spell with Serie A giants’
- Álvaro Morata has reportedly emerged as an alternative target for Juventus
- The 30-year-old played for the club from 2014 to 2016 and from 2020 to 2022
- Juventus have reopened talks with Chelsea over a permanent transfer from Lukaku
According to reports in Italy, Álvaro Morata could play for a third spell at Serie A giants Juventus after giving the green light to a transfer.
The Turin club was working on a deal for Romelu Lukaku and had reopened talks with Chelsea over a £38.5 million transfer that could see Dusan Vlahovic move in the opposite direction.
But according to Calciomercato. comWhile the Belgian remains the priority target for the Old Lady, Morata – who played for the club from 2014 to 2016 and then from 2020 to 2022 – has been identified as a viable alternative.
Better yet, Juventus have reportedly already gotten a ‘yes’ from the Atletico Madrid striker for another reunion.
Morata has scored more goals for Juve than anyone else, netting 59 times in 185 appearances in two spells. The 30-year-old star won two Serie A titles in his first stint and was part of the side led by Massimiliano Allegri that reached the Champions League final in 2015.

Juve boss Massimiliano Allegri has managed the Spaniard for three seasons over two spells
In Morata, Allegri knows he has a striker in his system who can deliver, even if he is still several years away from his best years. Last season, the Spain international scored just 15 goals from 45 appearances for Atletico, who finished 11 points behind eventual La Liga winners Barcelona.
Meanwhile, the move from Juventus to Morata would put Chelsea back in first place in terms of looking for a departure for Lukaku.
The frontman appears to have turned down the affection of fans and colleagues at Inter Milan over transfer links to Juventus, and his parent club has no interest in seeing him back.
Mauricio Pochettino could be forced to try to reintegrate the 30-year-old into the pack if The Blues’ attacking problems from last season persist into the new season.
