Jurgen Klopp confirms Liverpool WILL sign more players this summer… as Jordan Henderson and Fabinho ready for shocking Saudi moves

  • Jurgen Klopp said ‘new players need to come’ on the club’s podcast
  • Saudi interest in Jordan Henderson and Fabinho has changed their plans
  • The club has already signed Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai

Jurgen Klopp has said more new faces need to arrive at Liverpool for the first game of the Premier League season and has asked fans to trust him.

The Reds have already beefed up their creative options by signing Alexis Mac Allister from Brighton for £35 million Dominik Szoboszlai from RB Leipzig for £60 million.

However, a Saudi storm has jeopardized their plans with Jordan Henderson completing his Al-Ettifaq medical and Al-Ittihad and Bayern Munich chasing Fabinho.

The turbulence has left the Merseysiders with first-team midfield options in the event of their departure and Klopp confirmed the club is not yet ready in the transfer market.

“There are so many things to do,” he said, speaking of the club We are Liverpool podcast. The transfer window is open. If my day had 28 hours right now it wouldn’t be a problem – I could easily fill them!

Jordan Henderson and Fabinho look close to the exit door, giving the Reds a summer headache

“With all the things you have to do left and right, my focus and energy has to go mostly into the workouts, which is what I do. Then I can try to help with other things on both sides of the sessions.

Three and a half weeks until the first game of the season. A few things still have to happen before then, certainly also in terms of market transfer.

‘That’s clear now. And it will happen. New players need to come. We’ll have a good team.’

Multiple midfield options have been linked to Liverpool.

There has been speculation of an attack on 19-year-old Romeo Lavia from Southampton, but his £50 million price tag could put them off given his relative inexperience.

The club also cost a move for Crystal Palace player Cheick Doucoure. The South London side have slapped a £70m valuation on the Mali international, but their resolve has yet to be tested by a bid.

Earlier in the summer it seemed their interest in Nice’s Khepren Thuram had cooled following the Szoboszlai takeover, but the departures of Henderson and Fabinho could reinvigorate that.

Further afield, they could watch Fiorentina’s Sofyan Amrabat, who impressed in the World Cup for Morocco, or Bayern Munich’s Ryan Gravenberch.

Klopp also said: ‘Seven-and-a-half years ago… I said we have to change from doubters to believers.

‘I did not know [at] that time this will be a kind of phrase from that period because we all change. So I wasn’t sure at the time and maybe I was a doubter at first – but I became a huge believer.

“But of course, the last few years, almost winning the quadruple but not actually doing it, and then having the season we had, that can cause some doubt, I know.

“Then people want to change – one day they want to change the team in 12 positions and the next day just one. And then we change and then it’s the wrong player, ‘No, no, not him’, and things like that.

“What I would like to ask: trust us.

“We really feel responsible for what is happening here and we will do everything we can to have a season that we will never forget to the best of our knowledge. That’s the plan.
