Julia Fox says she was left ‘scarred’ by very public romance with Kanye West: ‘It has never helped me’

Julia Fox has revealed how her public romance with Kanye West left scars she is still dealing with.

The artist and actress told this week’s issue of Stellar magazine that she wouldn’t date another celebrity so openly after her experience with the controversial rapper.

“What I see happen so often in public relationships – at least what happened to me, and maybe I’m just scarred from it – is that you become known as that person’s girlfriend,” the 34-year-old said.

‘And I just don’t want to keep that up. I want to be able to make it myself. “I don’t want anyone to attribute my success to a man in my life,” she continued.

‘If anything, men are an obstacle I have to get through. It never helped me.’

Julia’s highly publicized, short-lived affair with Kanye took place in January 2022, following his divorce from Kim Kardashian.

While you’re talking to In stylethe Uncut Gems star admitted that she has struggled with being seen as just one of the 46-year-old musicians’ exes.

The actress stated that she dated West for “a month” and that the attention that came with their brief romance has left a “sour taste in ‘her’ mouth about dating someone in this field.”

“I never want to just be known as someone’s girlfriend. I know I am so much more than that. And I feel like this happens so much to women in this industry,” she said.

She continued, “They are only as good as their partner, otherwise they can make a whole career out of being someone’s partner. But either way, it becomes their identity.”

Fox, who will appear next month in OMG Fashun, a new design competition series on E!, said she aims to “transcend that” and “break that mold.”

‘I just want to stand on my own two feet and not need a man to support me. I did that for years. I’m doing well,” the mother of one noted.

‘I have established myself and I want to continue to establish myself. And maybe one day I will be taken seriously.’
