A Romanian judge has pointed to the “particular dangerousness” of Andrew Tate and his brother Tristan in their ability to attack and exploit women to justify extending their detention amid investigations into rape and human trafficking.

A written statement from a Bucharest court highlighted the “ability and effort of the Tate brothers to exercise permanent psychological control over the victims…even resorting to constant acts of violence,” according to Romanian media.

The couple are now being held behind bars for an additional 30 days until February 27, following the judge’s ruling that it would “manage tensions” surrounding the case and safeguard the investigation, according to the statement.

Former British-American kickboxer Tate, 36, has maintained his innocence since he was arrested with his brother Tristan, 34, on charges of rape, human trafficking and setting up an organized crime group on December 29, 2022. .

The brothers are detained next to Luana Radu, 32, a former police officer in Bucharest, and Georgiana Naghel, 28, a model believed to have been dating Tate for almost a year.

Both women face human trafficking charges and are accused of being Tate’s closest lieutenants, helping to ‘coerce’ and ‘control’ at least six women into creating pornographic content on social media while under house arrest.

Tate claimed yesterday that a woman accusing him of rape followed him to Romania and fabricated the accusation when he refused to buy his sister a €200,000 house.

He also told the Bucharest judges that “it is time for this circus to end” as he argued that prosecutors had only considered “small snippets” of information relevant to the case.

He said the rape charge against him lacked “concrete evidence” at the Court of Appeal in the Romanian capital earlier this month.

Meanwhile, his brother Tristan was seen yesterday protesting his innocence to reporters outside the Directorate for the Investigation of Organized Crime and Terrorism (DIICOT) in Romania, where they were taken for questioning.

Earlier this month, the Bucharest Court of Appeal heard Andrew Tate’s defense against allegations that he raped a woman who lived with him in the Eastern European country between November 2021 and April 2022.

Romanian media loafer reported that the woman asked to move to Romania with him and filed a rape complaint nearly six months later when he refused to give her money to buy a house and become a TikTok star.

The woman reportedly had a drug addiction when they met at the strip club she worked at in London.

Tate said he allowed the woman to move to Romania alone with him.

Naghel was born in Bucharest and raised in the Tuhari district and is believed to have met Tate through friends shortly after he moved to the country five years ago.

Who is Andrew Tate?

Andrew Tate rose to fame as a kickboxer in the 2000s.

In 2009, he won the International British Sports Karate Association cruiserweight championship in Derby.

Tate won his first ISKA world title in 2011 and joined Twitter as he gained an international reputation.

He founded a self-described ‘webcam pimping’ company around this time with his brother, which later admitted it was a ‘con’, using women to exploit customers for money.

Tate was removed from the Big Brother house after a week after footage surfaced of him spanking and slapping an ex-girlfriend, which both later said was consensual.

Tate moved to Romania to live in a compound surrounded by armed guards in 2017. He was banned from Twitter for comments placing “some responsibility” on rape victims.

His videos gained popularity in 2022 across TikTok, Instagram, and YouTube shorts, with misogynistic snippets shared millions of times.

Tate claims that he was playing a character and taken out of context.

The brothers’ safe house was raided in April 2022 after authorities believed two women were being held against their will.

Both were eventually released, but the investigation was reported to be ongoing.

Tate was restored to Twitter by Elon Musk, sparked a dispute with Greta Thunberg shortly after, and was subsequently arrested.

Due to her drug problem, the woman was told to stay with Tate’s assistant and alleged girlfriend, Naghel, who was also arrested as part of the investigation.

Police say Naghel and former police officer Radu acted as lieutenants for the brothers, helping to hold six women prisoner and forcing them to make online pornographic videos. They deny the accusations.

Tate claims, however, that her accuser filed a complaint after he refused to give her money to “open a beach bar, play on a TV show and become famous on TikTok.”

He alleges that the woman asked for 200,000 euros to buy a house for her sister in Chisinau, the capital of neighboring Moldova.

Andrew and his brother moved in 2017 to a converted warehouse in Romania, which had armed guards.

In their safe house on the outskirts of Bucharest, the Tate brothers had a video chat studio where several women were found during a police raid in April 2022.

prosecutors claim the brothers lured the women into the studio where they were sexually exploited through “acts of physical violence and mental coercion (through intimidation, constant supervision, control and invocation of alleged debts)”, and forced them to produce and share pornographic material.

Andrew had bragged in a YouTube video before his arrest that the women who stayed with him were not allowed to leave; he said, ‘you’re not going anywhere’.

Tate is also accused of raping the Moldovan woman, who he alleges followed him from London, in March 2022, which he categorically denies.

On Thursday, brother Tristan, also a former professional boxer, told reporters: What evidence is there against Tristan Tate? There are none. That should be the news of the day.

Andrew Tate was not seen speaking to the cameras.

In a podcast prior to his arrest, when asked why he initially moved to Romania, Tate saying ‘being able to evade rape accusations’ was her motivation.

The brothers have denied the accusations made against them.
