Jude Law surprises children on the cancer ward at Great Ormond Street Hospital

Jude Law sweetly surprised a group of children at Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH) in London on Wednesday when he made an unexpected visit.

The actor, 50, shocked the kids on the cancer wards and their families when he showed up to greet the patients in a heartwarming gathering.

He plays the notorious villain Captain Hook in Disney’s upcoming film Peter Pan & Wendy and visited the hospital ahead of the children’s movie premiere on April 20.

Jude visited children in GOSH’s three cancer wards, named Lion, Elephant and Giraffe, to distribute posters and activity packs to patients.

Photos from the visit showed Jude posing for photos with GOSH nurses, who were equally taken aback by his presence at the hospital.

He looked good in black slacks and a button-up shirt, which he completed with well-polished shoes.

Jude sported a mustache similar to Captain Hook’s as he smiled for photos at the hospital during his sweet visit.

Patients at the hospital will be able to screen Peter Pan & Wendy on April 28, while the kids also got Funko Pops of Jude’s famous character Captain Hook.

Jude’s new movie Peter Pan & Wendy is a live-action reimagining of JM Barrie’s original novel and 1953 classic and is directed by David Lowery.

GOSH has connections to the original Peter Pan story, when JM Barrie donated the rights to the play to the hospital in 1929 to support its work.

The new adaptation follows Peter Pan, played by Alexander Molony, who never ages and is always up for fun.

He takes Wendy, played by Ever Anderson – the child of actress Milla Jovovich and director Paul WS Anderson – to Neverland to see where children enjoy themselves.

Wendy has the adventure of a lifetime as she meets the diabolical Lost Boys, the courageous Tinkerbell – played by Yara Shahidi – and encounters beautiful mermaids and the enchanting Tiger Lily.

A trailer recently gave viewers a glimpse of Peter Pan & Wendy, which featured Jude in action as the villain.

The trailer begins with Wendy looking at her hands while standing on the beach at Neverland.

The young lady seems to go crazy when she notices magical dusty dust on her wet hands.

She goes looking for Peter and encounters the Lost Boys. When she points out that not all Lost Boys are boys, one of the girls says, “So.”

The trailer then flashes back to Wendy and her brothers at home when they are visited by Peter, who excites them with his magic.

Also spied on is their faithful black and white dog.

Soon after, Wendy and her siblings take in the lush island of Neverland that seems like paradise – until the pirates spoil the fun.

Law makes quite an impression as the villainous Captain Hook as he was seen in his signature scarlet coat.

The veteran British actor – best known for the films The Talented Mr Ripley, Closer and The Holiday – looked menacing with his long hair and sharp sword.

Wendy seems to pack a lot of punch as she wields two swords and makes the pirates run for their money.

Other cast members include Joshua Pickering, Jacobi Jupe, Jim Gaffigan, Noah Matthews Matofsky, Sebastian Billingsley-Rodriguez, Alyssa Wapanatâhk, Felix de Sousa, Molly Parker, Alan Tudyk, Diana Tsoy, Caelan Edie and Florence Bensberg.

The live-action movie based on JM Barrie’s beloved story is titled Peter Pan and Wendy.

Jude is the latest in a line of actors to take on the role of Captain Hook, who haunts the magical Neverland, pursued by the crocodile that ate his severed hand while trying to avenge his injury on Lost Boy Peter Pan.

Previous incarnations of Hook have been played by the likes of Dustin Hoffman and Jason Isaacs.

The decision to create a live-action version of the Peter Pan story came after the success of live-action versions of other Disney animated classics such as The Jungle Book, Aladdin, and The Lion King.

The latest film is executive produced by Adam Borba and Thomas M. Hammel and written by Lowery and Toby Halbrooks.
