Josh Jacobs’ SIX-year-old son ‘may have saved running back dad’s life by calling 911’ as Raiders star dad underwent emergency heart surgery with son set to win running title
Josh Jacobs’ young son may have saved a life this week when he found his grandfather Marty in pain on Tuesday.
Braxton, a six-year-old boy, called 911 when he sensed something was wrong with Jacobs’ father, according to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero.
And the boy’s instincts were clearly correct as Marty had to undergo emergency heart surgery this week.
Josh Jacobs pays tribute to his father by wearing ‘Pops’ on his black eye during Chiefs game
Jacobs’ father reportedly remains hospitalized in intensive care but planned to watch the Raiders’ season finale against the Chiefs on Saturday.
Jacobs paid tribute to his father by writing ‘Pops’ on his black eye for the game.
The running back, who led the league in rushing going into the final week of the season, spent time with his father this week at his home in Tulsa, Okla., and did not practice on Wednesday or Thursday.
The Raiders running back has also been dealing with hip and oblique injuries, though his father urged him to return to Las Vegas and play Saturday afternoon’s game against the Chiefs.
Jacobs has rushed for 1,608 yards and 12 touchdowns in the best season of his career.
Jacobs was named captain for the remainder of the season in December amid his strong play.
Entering Week 18, Jacobs led the NFL with 1,608 yards, 179 more yards than the Titans’ Derrick Henry (1,429).
This is by far the best individual season of Jacobs’ career, and it will be his first rushing title barring a Herculean effort from Henry.
At press time, Jacobs had three rushing yards through the first quarter of the game.
Despite their individual success, the Raiders (6-10) are out of playoff contention.
