Johnny Depp was ‘one of the first people’ to know about Lily-Rose’s romance

Johnny Depp was “one of the first” to know about daughter Lily-Rose’s romance with new girlfriend 070 Shake – and is thrilled that the model has “fallen in love” with a musician who looks so much like him.

The 23-year-old was pictured energetically wrapping her arms around her love as they indulged in a steamy kiss at LAX after the The Idol star returned from the Cannes Film Festival.

Lily-Rose has been dating the rapper, whose real name is Danielle Balbuena, since January, but only went public with the romance this month.

But a source has since told DailyMail.com exclusively that Lily-Rose’s famous dad was in on the act from the very beginning.

A source close to Lily Rose, whose mother is French singer Vanessa Paradis, told DailyMail.com: “Johnny was one of the first to hear about Danielle because he and Lily share everything.

Johnny is no stranger to sexual fluidity and was married to an openly bisexual woman for many years.

“It didn’t work out, but Lily grew up knowing this and normalized it. Amber didn’t hide her past with anyone in Johnny’s family.’

“Lily believes she is in love and Johnny wants nothing more in this world than to love and be loved by someone who deserves her.

“He hasn’t been the biggest fan of some of her ex-boyfriends, but there’s a reason why Lily and these guys couldn’t work out.”

The source continued, “Johnny also thinks it’s super cool that his daughter is with a musician because he’s a musician.

He also sees similarities in style and overall atmosphere between him and Danielle. They say that girls fall for boys like their father, but it seems that girls also fall for girls like their father.’

“Lily’s friends think they complement each other so well. They are so tender and affectionate. It’s one “awww” moment after another around their friends. She is such an authentic and real person and surrounds herself with that.’

DailyMail.com has reached out to spokespersons for Johnny and Lily-Rose for comment.

Lily-Rose, who holds both French and US citizenship, first went public with the romance earlier this month.

She shared an Instagram photo of herself kissing 070 Shake and gushed in the caption, “4 MONTHS WITH MY CRUSH.”

The post finally confirmed a wave of suspicion that has been raging since Lily-Rose and 070 Shake were glimpsed together at Paris Fashion Week in February.

Like her mother, Lily-Rose is incredibly private about her personal life — but she first shared some insight into her sexuality in a 2016 interview with Nylon, when she insisted that young people shouldn’t be forced to adhere to specific ‘ labels’ when it comes to their sexuality.

“There are so many kids these days who don’t label their sexuality and I think that’s so cool,” she said at the time, before speaking of a 2015 LGBTQ campaign that featured her — which many saw as her official “coming out.”

“A lot of people thought I was coming out, but that’s not what I was trying to do. I literally did it to say don’t label your sexuality,” she explained.

The model has previously had romances with several high-profile figures, including actor Timothee Chalamet and French rapper Yassine Stein.

Timothee and Lily-Rose made several public appearances together after their romance began in 2018 – and sparked a frenzy of intrigue when they saw a very passionate display on a yacht during a trip to Italy in the summer of 2019.

The pair split in April 2020 – though neither has ever publicly discussed the reasons behind their breakup.

After her relationship with Timothee came to an end, Lily-Rose sparked rumors of a romance with actor Austin Butler when the pair were spotted kissing on the street in 2021. But despite their very passionate public display, the two never seemed to have an official relationship off the ground.

Lily-Rose’s most recent relationship was with French rapper Yassine, whom she started dating in late 2021.

The former couple were seen together on a number of occasions after their romance was made public – but the relationship seems to have fizzled out after about a year.

Lily-Rose has always had a close relationship with her famous father.

She recently revealed that she was thrilled that Johnny had made a career comeback after the veteran star received a lengthy standing ovation at the Cannes Film Festival for his role in Jeanne Du Barry.

‘I’m super happy for him. I’m super excited,” she said ET. ‘And it’s so great that we get to do projects that we’re super proud of.’

As children, the actress and brother Jack, now 21, split their time growing up between their mother’s native France and the United States.

Lily-Rose previously talked about her upbringing Elle: ‘Growing up, my parents protected my brother [Jack] and I get rid of it as much as possible.

“I know my childhood wasn’t like everyone else’s childhood, and it’s a very special thing to deal with, but it’s also the only thing I know.”

She also addressed allegations of favoritism and denounced the idea that she has been given roles because of her family ties.

The rising star told the publication, “People are going to have preconceived notions about you or how you got there, and I can definitely say nothing is going to get you the part except you’re right for the part.”

“The internet cares a lot more about who your family is than the people who mold you into things. Maybe you have your foot in the door, but you still just have your foot in the door. After that there will be a lot of work.’

While the confrontation with fame as an adult is “a weird thing to navigate,” she admitted, “It’s different to experience it firsthand than by proxy.” I think it’s something I’ve had to find my own way with.”
