John Wick: Chapter 4 has killed off all three of its predecessors to officially become the best-reviewed movie in the blockbuster franchise.
After nearly 90 reviews, the latest installment in Keanu Reeves’ beloved action saga scored a stellar 93 percent on rotten tomatoes.
Reviewing the movie for kinapsisEd Travis called John Wick: Chapter 4 “simply one of the best action movies of this generation, and perhaps of all time.”
The surefire hit opens in theaters nationwide on March 24, but early reactions have praised the action-packed scenes and Keanu’s central performance.
Particular praise has been received for the debut of franchise newcomer, martial arts legend Donnie Yen, and the sequel’s three-hour run time hasn’t dampened the hype.

Anticipation for the film has reached a fever pitch in recent weeks, with early reviews going viral on social media.
SlashFilm’s Vanessa Armstrong tweeted: ‘#JohnWick4 is the best movie I’ve seen in a long time! “It’s like a Greek epic that is, yes, packed with action (and guns) like no other, and the set pieces are phenomenal. But it’s also about relationships and love.
Armstrong went on to call the film “an impressive and heartbreaking story”. and declared ‘I can’t wait to see him again’.
ComicBook.com’s Brandon Davis added: ‘#JohnWick4 absolutely brilliant, from start to finish. Keanu Reeves finds new ways to impress with dazzling action and surrounds himself with incredible newcomers to the franchise. Chapters 1-3 built in the world and Chapter 4 could do with everything. An epic explosion on the big screen. CINEMA!’
Scott Mendelson of The Wrap tweeted: “#JohnWick4 is, at least from a technical standpoint, one of the best Hollywood action movies ever made.” It is visually beautiful with surprisingly complicated and creative settings. I honestly don’t know how they safely did some of these scenes. It is a stunning artistic achievement.
But the future of the iconic franchise seems uncertain after director Chad Stahelski revealed that both he and Keanu are “done for the moment.”

‘In our minds, Keanu and I are done for the moment. Let’s give John Wick a break. I’m sure the studio has a plan. If everyone loves it and goes crazy, we’ll take a quiet minute.

Stahelski added that when the press tour in Japan is over, he and Reeves will contemplate the future of the franchise.
The filmmaker said: “Keanu and I will take the long trip to Tokyo, sit in the Imperial Hotel Scotch Bar and say, ‘What do you think?’
‘We’ll grab a couple of 20-year-old whiskeys and write some ideas down on napkins. If those ideas stick, maybe we’ll make a movie.’
But fans still have to wait for the next Ballerina spinoff film, as Reeves will join Anna de Armas in the highly anticipated expansion of the John Wick Universe.
