John Stamos reveals the time he briefly got the Olsen twins FIRED from Full House

The 1980s hit sitcom Full House made household names of John Stamos and Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen… though Stamos picks up on the moment he briefly fired the newborn twins from the pilot episode.

The 59-year-old actor spoke of shooting short on an episode of the Good guys podcast with Stamos’ co-star from Grandfathered, Josh Peck.

It happened during a now-famous scene from the pilot, where his character Jesse Katsopolis and Dave Coulier’s Joey Gladstone literally hose down one of the Olsen twins in an unorthodox manner as part of her diaper change.

Peck asked Stamos, “Did you try to get the Olsen Twins fired?” and Stamos casually replied, “I did.” I haven’t tried.’

Stamos explained that both Olsen twins weren’t exactly cooperating, resulting in their being fired, if only for a short time.

“Okay, we’ll do the scene where Joey and I change the baby, right? And Danny is gone and says, “Take care of the kids,” Stamos began.

Stamos added that they told Danny, “Yeah, we get it,” but they found themselves quite out of their depth when the baby needed to be changed, which led to them rushing the baby down the stairs, across the living room and into the kitchen. .

“We carry the baby down and we take her into the kitchen and we rinse her off and she screamed,” Stamos explained.

‘Both. They wanted to be somewhere other than there, and so did I,” he said, adding that they were both 11 months old at the time.

‘They kept switching – ‘This one isn’t going to cry’ – I couldn’t deal with it. I said this isn’t going to work, and they threw them out,” Stamos explained.

He added that they then brought in, “these two redheaded kids and I’m sure their parents loved them and thought they were attractive.”

Peck asked if the Olsen twins knew they were fired, and Stamos simply said, “Now they’re doing it,” adding that it was only a few days later when Stamos said, “Bring those Olsens back.” These kids are terrible.’

The Olsen twins remained on the show for the full eight seasons from 1987 to 1995, starring in all 193 episodes.

However, the twins did not return for the Netflix revival series Fuller House, although all of their original co-stars returned, including Stamos.

The news comes four months after Stamos paid tribute to his late Full House co-star Bob Saget, on the one-year anniversary of his untimely death at age 65.

The actor shared a video on Instagram of him and Saget in between takes, fooling around on set.

In the recording, Stamos can be heard saying, “We’ll never have a show like that again,” before Saget interjected, “My agent told me I’ll never have a show again!”

The You star then captioned the video with a quote from Charlie Chaplin, which read, “A day without laughter is a day wasted.”

‘It’s hard sometimes Bob without you, but we’ll try. We will continue to love and will continue to cuddle the way you want,” he continued.

A child’s father continued, “I can’t believe it’s been a year, time flies when you’re grieving I guess.”

His comment section was flooded with loving comments from many of his more than 3.8 million Instagram followers, his wife Caitlin McHugh, and former Full House costars.

“I love you so much,” his on-screen niece, Jodie Sweetin, wrote under Stamos’ post, while Candace Cameron Bure wrote, “Isn’t this the truth?”
