John Legend Gives His Wife Chrissy Teigen ‘A Break’ By Helping Care For A Newborn

John Legend recently welcomed his third child with his longtime wife, Chrissy Teigen.

And the EGOT winner, 44, said PEOPLE who has been doing her part to help Chrissy, 37, look after her newborn daughter Esti while she recovers from her C-section.

“Obviously I can’t breastfeed her, so I help feed her when we use the bottle,” the All Of Me hitmaker explained.

‘I’m happy to change diapers. I’m also good at making her burp.

The doting father has already started singing to him and the girl from the founder of Cravings.

“I started singing to her a bit,” he said, adding that his wife is also “good at lullabies.”

In general, John hopes that by giving his wife a helping hand, he is lessening the burden.

‘I try to help out as much as I can, you know, to give Chrissy a break.’

The couple, who married in 2013, already share six-year-old Luna and four-year-old Miles.

“Our older kids really like being big brothers, which we weren’t sure about,” he told the outlet, adding that “it seemed like they might be jealous when Chrissy was pregnant.”

But her fears were allayed when Esti arrived.

“Since Esti was born, they’ve been so loving and wanted to hold her and feed her, they just want to be good brothers,” John said.

Chrissy gave birth to her third child on January 13, and when asked how she is doing, John said it’s “a recovery process” for the cookbook author.

Chrissy decided to skip Sunday’s Grammy Awards to stay home with Esti even though Legend was up for three nominations.

He also took the stage to perform DJ Khaled’s GOD DID with Jay-Z, Lil Wayne, Rick Ross and Fridayy.

Before arriving on the red carpet, the model uploaded a photo of her hugging her little daughter. Captioned: ‘Happy Grammy Day! she had a dress fitting, looked around and realized… what the hell am i trying to try on here. I can’t get up lol

Legend first shared the happy news of Esti’s birth while performing at a private concert last month, telling the crowd that he and his wife welcomed the “little baby this morning.”

“What a blessed day,” the All of Me singer said, adding that although he “didn’t get much sleep,” he felt “energized” after spending “a lot of time” by Chrissy’s side in the hospital.

Chrissy announced Esti’s birth days later in an emotional Instagram post that featured a picture of Luna and Miles cradling their baby sister.

He also revealed the baby’s name for the first time.

‘She’s here! Esti Maxine Stephens – the house is packed and our family couldn’t be happier,” Chrissy began.

‘Dad sheds tears of joy every night to see Luna and Miles so full of love, and I’m learning you still need c-section diapers!?

He has been largely recuperating at home for the past few weeks, with few adventures away from home.

The influencer has been using postpartum abdominal wraps to help with her recovery, recently posting about the process on Instagram.

‘Sent love and healing to my womb today!’ Chrissy captioned the image, which showed off her tummy to perfection.

‘Thank you so much @bellibind!’ she added. ‘What a beautiful experience today! Sorry for the snoring 🙂 I’ll be gifting this to all the new moms I know!

According to New Life Birth Services, the belly wrap provides “hip and lower back support,” helping the mother recover much faster.

The emotional and physical effects are so positive that many mothers describe it as “a big hug.”

The cookbook author also recently shared some candid snippets on Instagram of herself using a breast pump and juggling her three young children.

Chrissy announced she was expecting on Instagram in August, sharing photos of her burgeoning baby bump.

The happy news came almost two years after she and John lost their son Jack at 20 weeks pregnant. She later revealed that the death of her late son was the result of a life-saving abortion, not a miscarriage as she originally claimed.

She explained that she made the “difficult decision” to terminate the pregnancy after accepting the fact that she and Jack would probably survive.

‘Let’s call it what it was: it was an abortion. An abortion to save my life for a baby who had absolutely no chance. And to be honest, I never, ever put that together until, actually, a few months ago,” Chrissy confessed, according to THR.
