Joao Felix's salary at Barcelona has increased by 900 percent, LaLiga has confirmed.

Barcelona signed Felix, on loan from Atletico Madrid, with a salary of just £344,440 in the summer to sign him up as the club struggled financially.

Describing a move to Barcelona as his 'dream', Felix was loaned out by Atletico Madrid after being frozen out by Diego Simeone, and even trained with the academy for part of pre-season.

LaLiga president Javier Tebas confirmed that they had 'multiplied the fee agreed between Joao and FCB by 10, for Fair Play purposes'.

That means he would now earn £3,444,400 per year at the club he is on loan at.

SPORT reports that the financial situation at Barcelona has caused 'real headaches' for the board of directors under president Joan Laporta.

Felix's loan to Barcelona was a relative success as he was reduced to a bit player role at Atlético and was loaned out to Chelsea last season.

The 24-year-old has scored six goals and assisted three in 21 games this season.

Xavi's Barcelona project has been slightly derailed by lukewarm form and they are now seven points behind LaLiga leaders Real Madrid and Girona.

Felix was dropped on the bench for the 2-1 win over Las Palmas after being a regular starter for the Blaugrana.

LaLiga also confirmed that Barcelona have more work to do regarding Inigo Martinez.
