Jill Biden sparks huge backlash by leading White House cabinet meeting: ‘Who is running the country?’

First Lady Jill Biden has sparked outrage after speaking at the first White House Cabinet meeting in a year.

President Joe Biden convened his Cabinet for the first time since October of last year on Friday. The First Lady also spoke about research into women’s health.

Biden explained her attendance at the session this way: “First Ladies have attended these meetings in the past for specific reasons.

“This is Jill’s first time on this, and it underscores the importance of the issue she’s about to address,” he said, turning the floor over to her, adding, “It’s all yours, girl.”

According to The New York PostBiden devoted much of his two-minute introduction to the first lady, who then spoke for four and a half minutes.

The outlet compared the First Lady to Edith Wilson, who kept President Woodrow Wilson under strict control after he suffered a stroke.

Greg Price made this comparison online, adding: “She’s literally Edith Wilson, but out in the open and in the news 24/7, and no one in the media gives a damn.”

A political commentator also wrote about the First Lady who kicked off the meeting: “Jill Biden is starting the first Cabinet meeting the White House has had in almost a year and we should pretend this is normal.”

Steve Cortes, a former adviser to former President Donald Trump, described Biden as looking “visibly exhausted.”

He posted: ‘Wow. A visibly exhausted Joe Biden just held his first full cabinet meeting in 11 months and immediately passed the mic to his wife. Who’s running the country?’

Matt Kadish added: “This is basically admitting that Jill was the one pulling the strings all along.”

Randy Weber, Representative for Texas’s 14th Congressional District, added: “Sleepy Joe is asleep at the wheel again.”

Sean Davis, co-founder of the Federalist, wrote sarcastically, “I didn’t know our constitutional system of government gave any power whatsoever to the unelected wife of the president in the lead role.”

Comedian Tim Young added: “Jill Biden is the head of the table at the Cabinet meeting.

“Nobody voted for her to be there, this has to be part of her deal to get Joe out of the race. She has no reason to be there.”

Before Biden ceded the party’s nomination, Jill Biden was considered the most powerful First Lady in more than a century

In a statement to Fox NewsAndrew Bates, deputy White House press secretary, said: “Before President Biden updated his Cabinet and the country on the continued accomplishments of the most successful administration in modern history, he asked the First Lady to preside over the meeting to present the groundbreaking work they are doing to fundamentally change the way we fund and approach women’s health research.

“If the only answer these critics have is conspiracy theories that undervalue historic advances in research into women’s health — including terrible diseases — that says a lot about why more and more American women feel like the right wing doesn’t give a damn about them, even as it pushes through sweeping abortion bans.”

President Biden left the White House after the Cabinet meeting to prepare for a weekend summit with the leaders of the “Quad,” Australia, India and Japan.

Biden dropped out of the presidential race on July 21 after his poor performance in the debate against Donald Trump, which led to concerns about his mental health.

Before Biden ceded the party nomination, Jill Biden was considered the most powerful First Lady in more than a century, wielding considerable influence in the West Wing.
