Jill and Ashley Biden enjoyed a short, breezy walk on their private beach Saturday, just hours before the first family departs Nantucket.
The mother and daughter duo spent a lot of quality time together over the Thanksgiving holiday, including a day of shopping in historic downtown.
The duo only spent about 12 minutes outside on Saturday, but it was long enough for Ashley to bend down and pick up some items from the beach, most likely the seashells scattered around the island.
Both women wore long puffer coats to ward off the cold and windy weather. Jill Biden appeared to be wearing workout clothes and sneakers. A few Secret Service agents walked with them as they walked onto the beach. Three Coast Guard gunboats stood guard in the harbor.
As they headed back to the luxurious $34 million home where they are staying, a Secret Service agent lent the first lady a hand to help her navigate the stairs from the beach to the garden.
The 13,000 square foot home sits on Nantucket’s secluded inner harbor with beautiful water views. It has a private beach and a boat dock.
The 13-acre site is owned by billionaire businessman and philanthropist David Rubenstein, who recently purchased the Baltimore Orioles.

Mother and daughter enjoyed time together. On Wednesday they went shopping, visiting a dozen local stores in the historic downtown area for over an hour.
One stop was Ladybird Lingerie, known for its “beautiful yet comfortable” undergarments.
The window showed an array of lace bras and panties to choose from.
The first lady was not seen carrying any bags, but her personal assistant was with her and was able to make arrangements to have everything she purchased delivered.
Jill Biden, dressed in figure-hugging brown leather leggings and black high-heeled ankle boots, even received a gift from Town Pool, a Nantucket-themed store. She received a T-shirt with the text ‘Biden’ in the shape of the island.
The Bidens will leave Nantucket on Saturday evening to return to the White House. They arrived on the island off the coast of Massachusetts on Tuesday. President Joe Biden leaves for Africa on Sunday.
Hunter Biden, his wife Melissa Cohen and their son Beau accompanied the first couple during their vacation stay.
The whole family had lunch together Friday at the Brotherhood of the Thieves, a traditional pub in downtown Nantucket.
After dinner they did some Black Friday shopping and watched the Christmas tree lighting in town.
President Biden caused some controversy when he bought a book that was considered anti-Israel.
Biden was seen holding The Hundred Years’ War on Palestine: A History of Settler Colonial Conquest and Resistance, 1917-2017 by Columbia University Professor Emeritus Rashid Khalidi at a local bookstore.
The book sharply criticizes what it describes as the Zionist movement’s acts of “settler colonialism” on behalf of Israel, calling what is happening in Palestine “the oppression of one people by another.”
One reviewer described it as ‘a highly partisan report from a Palestinian perspective.’
It is unclear whether the book was purchased by Biden himself or by one of his many family members who accompanied him on the trip.

President Biden joined millions of Americans looking for a Black Friday deal on one of the busiest shopping days of the year.
His grandson Beau, 4, sprang into action, leading his grandfather by the hand through the cobblestone streets of Nantucket.
The Biden family ended their day of shopping with the Christmas tree lighting ceremony in the city. Afterwards, Hunter helped his father step onto a small platform to take a photo with the children’s choir, who entertained the crowd with traditional Christmas carols.
Biden strolled the stores, holding hands with his grandson Beau and petting a dachshund, as pedestrians looked on and shouted “we love you, Joe.” At one point, Biden even held the dog to pose for a photo with his owner. Hunter took the photo.
Hunter, who will be sentenced next month on federal tax and gun crimes, walked alongside his wife Melissa in jeans and a bomber jacket.
Biden responded to two questions from reporters waiting outside as he browsed holiday deals.
He said he was “working hard with the FBI” after several Trump Cabinet picks and Democrats were targeted with bomb threats and swatting.
Biden also said he expects to speak with Trump again during the transition.

Jill Biden was also shopping for books and seemed to get sentimental when she picked up a copy of her husband’s 2021 inaugural address.
Their daughter Ashley was spotted trying on a headband while looking for her own bargain.
The Biden family celebrated Thanksgiving the same way they have for the past 49 years, with a holiday on Nantucket.
In his 2017 memoir “Promise me Dad,” Biden wrote that Thanksgiving in 1975 was the first holiday he and his now-wife Jill spent together, taking his young sons Beau and Hunter to Nantucket for some bonding time .
Since then, they have rarely missed a vacation on Nantucket.
One of the few Thanksgivings the Bidens missed there was in 2015, which occurred about six months after Beau Biden’s death.
The family went to Rome instead. They also skipped the trip in 2020 due to the pandemic.
