Drunken Jetstar passenger is kicked off the plane by cops after ‘shouting racist abuse at flight staff’

A drunken Jetstar passenger had to be dragged off a plane by police officers after he allegedly started shouting racial slurs at flight attendants.

Flight JQ29 from Melbourne to Bangkok had to make an emergency landing in Darwin on September 28 after a British man on board became increasingly unruly.

Fellow passenger Rukaiya Shabbir said the man, who was traveling alone, appeared drunk from the start of the 10-hour journey on the crowded flight.

“He kept shouting and singing so loudly immediately after takeoff,” she told Daily Mail Australia.

Ms Shabbir said the flight attendants did their best to calm the man and moved those sitting next to him to alternative seats.

“He was so drunk that the male flight attendants started talking to him and then he became a super racist,” she claimed.

“He said things like ‘You Asian bastards, get away from me!’ and the whole plane could hear it.”

Ms Shabbir said the man refused to sit down and continued to walk around the plane.

She added that he had brought alcohol on board and appeared to have drunk straight from a bottle before it was confiscated by staff.

“He had been doing this for a few hours and the pilot found out and made an announcement that if the man didn’t calm down he would have to make an emergency landing,” she said.

Once the plane landed in Darwin, Australian Federal Police (AFP) officers walked on board and detained the man.

Ms Shabbir added that he had also rested his feet on the chairs in front of him.

‘He was so drunk that when we landed in Darwin he said, ‘Where are we?’ Are we in Thailand yet?” she said.

“The whole plane exploded when he got off.”

Passengers on the plane had to wait two hours in Darwin before being transferred to another flight to Bangkok.

Daily Mail Australia has contacted Jetstar and the AFP for comment.
