Jerry Seinfeld, 70, and wife Jessica, 52, share rare picture of youngest son Shepherd as empty nesters send him off to college: ‘3rd and final launched’

It’s official… Jerry Seinfeld and his wife Jessica have already left their children after sending their son Shepherd off to college this weekend.

And in a rare move, the normally very private couple shared a series of photos of their final moments together, before the teenager is truly on his own for the first time.

“Third and final launch,” Jessica Seinfeld, 52, captioned the first of five photos shared to her Instagram page.

In the first photo, Shepherd stands among his parents, who look very proud as they all stand in a room, presumably at his university.

It turns out that the teen, who turns 19 on August 22, is following in the footsteps of his two older siblings: Sascha, 23, and Julian, 21, by attending Duke University in Durham, North Carolina.

Jerry Seinfeld, 70, and his wife Jessica Seinfeld, 52, officially became parents to an empty nest child when they helped their son Shepherd, who turns 19 on Aug. 22, attend Duke University.

To make the weekend even more festive, the couple decided to have brunch before the move, which was captured in a photo of the trio sitting on a terrace.

Jessica (born Nina Danielle Sklar) looked ready for summer in black shorts with a white shirt that she tied just above her waist.

The cookbook author had pulled her long blonde locks back from her face and into a loose bun, except for a few strands that hung around her face.

Her husband, 70, sat next to her in a blue polo shirt, blue jeans and white sneakers, his salt-and-pepper hair cropped short.

Older sister Sascha was there for her brother’s big life-changing weekend. This was evident when the family went out for ‘hot wings’, dressed in light blue sweatpants, a white sweater and crop top and white sneakers.

After initially wearing black shorts, a white T-shirt and sneakers, Shepherd changed into a gray T-shirt when they went out that evening.

His parents couldn’t resist feasting on their smoked beef brisket dinners while sitting on the side of the road during their time on campus in North Carolina.

They both held up their plates of beef brisket for all to see as they laughed and smiled.

Jessica Seinfeld also posed for a photo with her friend Daun Dees, founder and CEO of Rivet Utility.

It appears the legendary stand-up comedian has become a regular at Duke University, as he recently delivered the commencement address for the class of 2024.

And this while Sascha and Julian have lived on campus for years.

Feeling proud of her career, Jessica also took a moment to share a screenshot of the 100% Tomatometer approval the documentary Daughters received on Rotten Tomatoes.

The Oyster Bay, New York, native served as an executive producer on the film, which debuted on Netflix on August 14 after making its world premiere at the 2024 Sundance Film Festival.

Daughters, directed by Natalie Rae and Angela Patton, follows four young girls as they prepare for a special Daddy Daughter Dance with their incarcerated fathers, as part of a unique fatherhood program at a Washington, D.C. prison.

“Last night we celebrated the release of @daughtersdocumentary on @netflix with a screening for friends,” she wrote in the caption of the Instagram post. “The sobs (and laughter) were audible as our audience took a heartwarming rollercoaster ride with the brave and beautiful imprisoned fathers and their daughters in our film.

Thank you to everyone for your voice messages and texts today. I am overwhelmed by your love and support for this film. I appreciate you all posting as well.

Seinfeld concluded, “I love our filmmaking team so much @natalieraerobison @sistah_angela @girlsforachange @chad_m_morris @lydiakives @kathryneverett @laura__choi @xtr and so many more.”

The couple first met in August 1998 at a Reebok Sports Club on Manhattan’s Upper West Side.

“I was going through a rough patch and Jerry Seinfeld came to me and he tried to make me laugh. I really didn’t feel like having fun at that point,” Jessica told The New York Times during a 2007 interview.

“He came back and said something funny, and I really had to laugh.”

It turned out that Jessica had just married theater producer Eric Nederlander earlier that year, but problems soon arose on the estate.

Eventually, about a year later, they started dating after she separated from her husband and filed for divorce within the same calendar year of their marriage.

The couple eventually became engaged in November 1999 and were married in a ceremony on Christmas Day, December 25 of that year.

Almost a year after they got married, Jessica and Jerry welcomed their first child, Sascha.

It would be almost three years before they had their second child together: Julian. In August 2005, Shepherd was born.
