Jeremy Clarkson shares health update after revealing he is at ‘double risk’ of getting dementia
Jeremy Clarkson has shared a health update after revealing he is at ‘double risk’ of developing dementia.
The 63 year old has been told by his doctor that he needs hearing aids after suffering severe hearing loss.
Hearing loss is closely linked to the onset of dementia, and fans were concerned about the presenter’s health.
Jeremy told me The Sunday times: ‘This has been going on for twelve years and because I’m a tolerant type, I’ve stuck with it.
‘But after my most recent medical treatment I was told that hearing loss doubles the risk of me developing dementia.’

He continued, “My brain has to use an enormous amount of processing power to fill in the bits of speech it hasn’t been able to hear.”
Jeremy said he experiences large gaps in conversations, even when someone is standing next to him.
However, he joked that even though he can’t hear his girlfriend Lisa asking him to load the dishwasher, his ears seem fine when he’s offered a glass of wine.
According to the NHS, mild hearing loss doubles the risk of developing dementia, moderate hearing loss triples the risk, while severe hearing loss can increase the risk five times.
The website states that hearing aids can help reduce the risk and impact of dementia.
Jeremy said his doctor gave him “very hip and incredibly smart” hearing aids as a solution to the problem.
The ex-Top Gear star added that ‘most’ of his body has failed him, including problems with his eyesight and walking around the Diddly Squat Farm.
Fans rushed to show their support for the motorist, with one writing: ‘As a hearing impaired person I’m so glad you wrote this.’
For decades, Clarkson was the country’s leading motoring journalist thanks to Top Gear, but he was mostly at sea when he did his best as a farmer at Clarkson’s Farm.

Another added: ‘Thank you for writing about this and helping to normalize the use of hearing aids.’
Earlier this month, the Ny Breaking was told that Amazon hopes to commission three more series of Clarkson’s Farm.
The show became a global hit as viewers enjoyed Jeremy struggling to run his farm in Chipping Norton, Oxfordshire.
It is expected that a deal – believed to be worth at least $250 million – will be announced when the third series begins streaming in March or April next year.
Clarkson is still as busy as ever, working on The Grand Tour, as well as Prime Video and Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?
Meanwhile, his latest book – Diddly Squat: Pigs Might Fly – was released last month and was an instant bestseller.
But the star got himself into trouble last December with a column he wrote about Meghan Markle.
In the article, published in The Sun, Clarkson wrote that he dreamed of Meghan Markle being forced to parade ‘naked’ through British cities, prompting a record 25,100 complaints to the Independent Press Standards Organisation.
The former Top Gear star, 62, later apologized and admitted he had ‘put my foot in it’ and accepted his language was ‘disgraceful’ and that he was ‘deeply sorry’. The Sun also apologised.
Meanwhile, the Duke of Sussex branded the article about his wife ‘horrific, hurtful and cruel’ and questions were raised over whether Clarkson would honor his lucrative deal with ITV.
