Jennifer Aniston and Reese Witherspoon, good friends from way back, will compete against each other in September.
The Hollywood A-list actresses were both nominated for an Emmy Award on Wednesday morning for their Apple TV+ series The Morning Show.
And the blonde beauties fall into the same category: Best Lead Actress in a Drama Series.
Jennifer, 55, plays Alex Levy, while Reese, 48, plays Bradley Jackson in the series about the culture behind a network morning news program.
Also in this category are Carrie Coon for The Gilded Age, Maya Erskine for Mr & Mrs Smith, Ana Sawai for Shogun and Imelda Staunton for The Crown.
It is a highly competitive category as all of the nominees receive critical acclaim and have been featured in popular series.

The ladies have been nominated for Emmys several times in the past.
Jennifer was nominated in the same category for the same show in 2020. In 2022, she won an Emmy for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series for her role as Rachel Green on Friends.
Rese was nominated in the same category in 2022 for The Morning Show. In 2017, she won an Emmy for her production of Big Little Lies.
The Morning Show’s 2024 Emmy nominations also include Best Drama Series, four women in Best Supporting Actress (Nicole Beharie, Greta Lee, Karen Pittman and Holland Taylor), two nominations for Best Supporting Actor (Billy Crudup, Mark Duplass), a nomination for Best Guest Actress (Marcia Gay Harden) and Best Director (Mimi Leder).
The Morning Show is currently filming its fourth season in Los Angeles.
On July 8, Aniston let her Instagram followers know that she was back to work. She, Reese and Tig Notaro were on the set of season four of The Morning Show.
“Let @themorningshow season 4 games begin, Here we come!” Aniston wrote, adding two red heart emojis. Tig plays Amanda Robinson.
Julianna Margulies is reported not to be returning to the Morning Show, but Jon Hamm is. Jeremy Irons has also reportedly been added to the cast.
Jennifer said in June that Reese is like a sister to her.
“We have a really interesting relationship. It’s like family, that’s for sure,” Aniston told the audience during the panel discussion, which also included her Morning Show co-stars Karen Pittman, Notaro, Billy Crudup, Jon Hamm, Mark Duplass and Nestor Carbonell.
Witherspoon was unable to attend the event.
“We love to hate each other, and we love to love each other. I think that’s a really fun dynamic that Reese and I get to play,” the Emmy winner said of her character Levy and Witherspoon’s Jackson.

The friends and co-stars first met in 2000, when Witherspoon guest-starred on two episodes of Friends playing Rachel’s little sister, Jill. “She was just so effortlessly kind and cheerful and sunny. We’ve been friends ever since,” Witherspoon told Harper’s Bazaar in 2019.
“And of course we would like to be together forever, I think. I hope so, but… we really don’t know what’s going to happen.”
Aniston and Witherspoon have had a familial relationship since 2000, when Witherspoon, then a promising actress, played Rachel Green’s sister Jill in two episodes of Friends.
“We met on the set of Friends,” Witherspoon said Harper’s Bazaar from 2019.
“I played her sister. I was 23 years old and had just had a baby. I was breastfeeding Ava on set and Jen kept saying, ‘You have a baby?’ I was like, ‘I know, it’s weird,'” she said.
The versatile actress and producer said Aniston “was so sweet to me. I was really nervous and she was like, ‘Oh, my God, don’t worry!’ I was amazed at her ability to perform in front of a live audience like that without any nerves.”
“They changed all the rules and she was just so effortlessly kind, happy and sunny. We’ve been friends ever since.”

Where their on-screen friendship will take them in the fourth season of The Morning Show remains to be seen.
Alex had to deal with the betrayal of her TV boyfriend Paul Marks, played by Hamm, who wanted to buy UBA and sell parts of the network.
Bradley and her brother Hal went to talk to the FBI about their role in the January 6 riot.
“I think the big question this year is who and what can you trust?” said showrunner Charlotte Stoudt.
“Can you trust your colleagues? Can you trust your own eyes? Can you trust what you see in a world of AI and defects? It’s a tough world,” she explained.
“I mean, just look at the headlines. We just take it from the headlines. Honestly, because that’s our inspiration. It’s real life.”
