Three-year-old JD Vance stole the show when she helped her dad bake cookies to celebrate Christmas in a video posted to X.
Mirabel, the youngest of Vance and his wife Usha’s three children, watched in admiration as the vice president-elect shared his great-grandmother’s cookie recipe.
“Baking some Vance family cookies with the best three-year sous chef in the world. Merry Christmas everyone!’ Vance, 40, wrote on X on Christmas Eve.
“Today we’re going to learn how to make cookies because I feel like cookie making is a lost art and I think every American family should have a cookie on the table at Christmas dinner,” the Republican senator from Ohio said.
Vance goes on to say that it was his mother, immortalized in his memoir Hillbilly Elegy, who taught him the trick to a good cookie: frozen butter.
The duo are joined at the end of the video by Vance’s son Vivek and Ewan as the cookies come out of the oven.
Thousands, including Elon Musk, left comments on the clip, calling it wholesome and thanking Vance for sharing the family moment.
“I love how healthy and normal this is. Something we missed,” said X user Brandon Morse.

Meanwhile, Elon Musk responded to the video with a heart emoji.
Vance’s vacation video has been viewed more than three million times.
He and his wife Usha also share sons Ewan Blaine and Vivek.
The Vances welcomed their first son Ewan in June 2017, while Vivek was born in February 2020.
Vance celebrated their second son’s fourth birthday on the Senate floor earlier this year.
While Vance was extensively criticizing further aid to Ukraine in a supplemental $95.3 billion national security bill that would also provide foreign aid to Israel, he interrupted himself.

Vance will be the youngest vice president since Richard Nixon, who served two terms under Dwight Eisenhower starting in 1953. He is seen with Donald Trump in August 2024.
“And I’m sorry I can’t be with you for your birthday dinner,” he told his son publicly.
“But I want you to know that Dad loves you very much. And I’m going to read this out loud, because maybe you can watch it at home.’
He then recited the Dr. 1990 Seuss classic ‘Oh, The Places You’ll Go!’
Vance and Usha welcomed their third child, daughter Mirabel, in December 2021.
‘We have been blessed with an early Christmas present this year. Everyone meet Mirabel Rose Vance, our first girl. Mom and baby are both doing great, and we are very grateful this holiday season,” he wrote on Instagram at the time, People magazine reported.
Although the clip was likely shot at Vance’s home in Cincinnati, the family of five will soon move into the vice president’s residence at the Naval Observatory in Washington DC.
