Jane Fonda, 86, glows with happiness as she poses with granddaughter Viva Vadim, 21, on star-studded red carpet for TIME Earth Awards Gala

Jane Fonda, 86, beamed with happiness as she took her granddaughter Viva Vadim, 21, to the TIME Earth Awards Gala in New York on Wednesday.

The awards ceremony is only in its second year and honors people who have pushed for ‘climate justice’ – including Jane.

The Oscar-winning actress has spent decades as a controversial political activist, and in recent years she has been proudly arrested several times while participating in climate change protests in Washington, DC.

While she was honored for her contributions to charity, Jane was also able to enjoy some family time on the red carpet with her granddaughter.

Viva’s maternal grandparents are Jane and the famous French filmmaker Roger Vadim, including Brigitte Bardot.

Roger was the first of Jane’s three husbands, as well as her director in the science fiction film Barbarella, which made her an international sex symbol.

For her latest public appearance, Jane draped her impressively slim body in a tight royal purple pantsuit over a matching blouse.

The workout guru wore her silver hair in luscious curls and enhanced her features with makeup, including a touch of dark lipstick.

She added a touch of glitter to the look with a sparkly necklace and a pair of silver shoes that sparkled under the lights.

Jane held Viva’s hand as they stood side by side on the carpet, smiling happily at the photographers.

Celebrities attending the TIME Earth Awards that evening included Killing Eve actress Jodie Comer, who wowed in a peek-a-boo black leather top.

She elegantly clashed the sleeveless style against a pleated skirt that reached the ankle, leaving most of her sleek black leather boots hidden.

Jodie could be seen on the red carpet with Uruguayan fashion designer Gabriela Hearst, one of the evening’s winners.
