Jamie Redknapp urges Harry Kane to LEAVE ‘shambles’ club Tottenham this summer

Jamie Redknapp urges Harry Kane to LEAVE ‘shambles’ club Tottenham this summer… and insists the time is right for the England captain to ‘push’ for a move to Manchester United

  • Harry Kane still has one year contract with Tottenham Hotspur and has yet to extend it
  • Jamie Redknapp believes this summer is the right time for him to leave the club
  • He says the striker ‘deserves better’ and should push for a transfer to Manchester United

Former Tottenham midfielder Jamie Redknapp has urged Harry Kane to leave the club this summer amid interest from Manchester United.

Kane continued to be a bright spark in a difficult season for the north London club, with 28 Premier League goals, behind only Manchester City’s Erling Haaland in the charts.

However, the England international still has a year left on his current contract and Redknapp says this summer is the right time for Kane to leave Tottenham as he ‘deserves better’.

“It’s the facts, it feels like the Spurs are a mess, if you’re Harry Kane with a year left now is the time to leave, he needs to push now.”

“(Manchester) If they’re disconnected they might get someone, he missed Man City a few years ago, now he’s got to push with a one-year contract to go somewhere.

“Tottenham is like a social experiment of how far you can push your fans before they lose it altogether. They have to do something, no one wants to lose Harry Kane, he’s been incredible but deserves better.’

Since coming through youth, Kane has scored 278 times in 434 appearances for Spurs, including 211 goals in the Premier League, making him second in the all-time top goalscorer record.

Reports suggest United will be in the market for a striker at the end of the season and will make an early bid for Kane.

Although often linked with a departure from Tottenham Hotspur – Manchester City tried to sign him two years ago – Kane has remained in north London.

Making the move to Erik ten Hag’s side could boost Kane’s hopes of winning a trophy for the first time in his career.

After enduring meek exits from the Champions League, FA Cup and Carabao Cup this season, the Tottenham trophies drought has been extended to 15 years since they won the League Cup.

It’s been a chaotic second half for Spurs, with Antonio Conte sacked as boss after setting fire to his relationship with his players, before his replacement and former assistant Cristian Stellini was sacked after just four games.

After Saturday’s 3-1 defeat at Brentford, Kane admitted that ‘a lot needs to change’ for the club to be successful.

“I’ve said all along that I’m focused on this season and trying to help the team as much as I can,” said Kane. The Evening Standard. ‘That’s all I can do.

“A big summer is coming up and a lot has to change here to become successful again. Ultimately, my focus now is to enjoy this final week as much as possible and try to finish with a win [at Leeds United] on Sunday.’
