Jamie Lee Curtis has revealed she has ‘retired’ from celebrating Halloween – despite her almost 50-year career as a scream queen in slasher films.
The iconic actress, 65 – who is best known for her portrayal of Laurie Strode in multiple films in the Halloween franchise, said she has stepped away from celebrating the macabre holiday in a shocking announcement.
She told me People: ‘I retired my pumpkins. I hung up my butcher knives. I got out of the vehicle. I bow gently to others who take up the mantle.
She added that her decorating plans ‘Nothing. Zipper.’
‘My kids are old enough now and don’t want me to decorate for them. So no, I just step softly into the darkness.

She also revealed that she won’t be watching her own horror movies this Halloween, joking, “No, what kind of life do you think I have?”
Jamie made her debut as Laurie in 1978’s Halloween and her final appearance was in 2022’s Halloween Ends.
In the original film, babysitter Laurie was stalked by masked killer Michael Myers.
The synopsis read: “On a cold Halloween night in 1963, six-year-old Michael Myers brutally murdered his 17-year-old sister, Judith. He was convicted and imprisoned for fifteen years.
But on October 30, 1978, while being transferred for a trial, 21-year-old Michael Myers steals a car and escapes from Smith’s Grove. He returns to his quiet hometown of Haddonfield, Illinois, where he searches for his next victims.
The actress previously admitted that saying goodbye to her alter ego was ‘very tough’.
In a behind-the-scenes clip from Entertainment Weekly, an emotional Jamie said: ‘The whole concept of a horror film is to stimulate emotion, and the making of it does the same.
“So to have done it three times with a group of people, and to know that I won’t do it again with that same group of people, has been really tough for me.
She told People: “I’ve retired my pumpkins. I hung up my butcher knives. I got out of the vehicle. I bow gently to others who take up the mantle (depicted in Halloween Ends)
‘It will be difficult to say goodbye to this group of people.
