Biden national security adviser Jake Sullivan insists he has ‘total trust’ in the Secret Service after ‘drunken intruder snuck past security at 3am his D.C. home’ in massive security breach
White House National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan insists he still has “full confidence” in the Secret Service after an intruder broke into his home at 3 a.m.
Sullivan declined to go into details about the incident, but defended the agency when questioned by reporters fleeing to Japan with President Joe Biden ahead of the G7 summit.
“They do a remarkable job every day as professionals protecting me,” he said.
The Washington Post reported Tuesday that a “intoxicated” and “confused” man walked into Sullivan’s West End home at 3 a.m. in late April.
Sullivan confronted the man and told him to leave. He then went outside to alert the officers once the intruder had already left.
Now the Secret Service has launched an investigation into how the man managed to sneak past Sullivan’s security detail, which was stationed outside.

“The Secret Service is investigating a security incident that took place on a secure property. While the protected individual was unharmed, we are taking this matter seriously and have opened an extensive mission investigation to review all facets of what happened,” Secret Service spokesman Anthony Guglielmi told DailyMail.com.
“Any deviation from our security protocols is unacceptable and if discovered, staff will be held accountable.”

It follows a series of disturbing security breaches involving politicians and government officials.
On Monday, a man was arrested for assaulting two aides of Democrat Virginia Rep. Gerry Connolly talked with a baseball bat.
In October, an intruder broke into Nancy Pelosi’s home in San Francisco and hit her husband Paul with a hammer.
The Secret Service began providing the National Security Adviser’s protective details when the FBI uncovered an Iranian plot to assassinate John Bolton, who served under Donald Trump, in 2021.
Before then, they only got security when traveling outside of Washington.
Sullivan was named national security adviser at Biden’s swearing-in on January 20, 2021.
Prior to that, he worked for Hillary Clinton, first as deputy chief of staff when she was secretary of state and then as an adviser to her 2016 presidential campaign.
Sullivan will depart for Japan tomorrow on President Biden’s trip to the G7.
Sullivan assists Biden on most of his foreign trips. He was with him on the train from Poland to Ukraine when he made his secret journey to Kiev in February
