Is it him? Driver claims his video shows ex-Victorian premier Dan Andrews driving while using a mobile phone – but not everyone’s convinced

Footage shared on social media claims former Victorian Premier Dan Andrews uses his phone while driving on a highway.

The short video, recently filmed by another driver on the EastLink highway, showed the driver claiming Mr Andrews was sitting next to him in the car.

'You'll never believe who's standing next to me. Look who it is, Dan, damn Andrews,” said the excited driver.

The images themselves are unclear, but the person in the other car appears to be using a mobile phone behind the wheel.

Victoria Police are reportedly investigating the footage to see if any of the drivers broke road rules.

The video was shared on social media in which the driver claims Dan Andrews is in the car next to him on the EastLink highway

“The Highway Patrol Command is currently assessing the video based on the limited information we have,” a spokesperson said.

“We are working to identify both the person who filmed the footage and the second vehicle to determine if any wrongdoing has occurred by either driver.”

Ny Breaking is not suggesting it was Mr Andrews in the other car, only that police are investigating the claims.

However, some viewers of the video were not convinced.

“You don't even know if it's him,” someone said.

“It's not even Dan,” another agreed.

Mr Andrews, who retired as premier in September, introduced distraction cameras for drivers on Victorian roads in 2021, aimed at detecting drivers on their phones.

Since leaving office he has been involved in a different kind of drama: his application to join the prestigious National Golf Club on Mornington Peninsula was apparently met with a backlash from other members.

A letter circulating from a club member claims that more than 100 golfers who disagree with the former Prime Minister's policies have “expressed a strong position against” Mr Andrews joining the club.
