Incandescent former MSNBC star calls on CNN to fire one of its top analysts, Van Jones, for praising Trump campaign while criticizing Biden

Former MSNBC host Keith Olbermann called on CNN to fire Van Jones, one of its top political correspondents, for praising Trump’s strengths and criticizing Biden’s weaknesses.

On Wednesday night, Van Jones was a guest on a panel with other political commentators from the network to discuss the Republican National Convention and the election.

“Today is a terrible day,” the former Obama adviser said. “If you step back and look at this thing, it’s strength versus weakness. A bullet didn’t stop Trump. A virus stopped Biden.”

Jones’ comments referenced the attempted assassination of Trump on Saturday at a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, in which a gunman opened fire on the former president.

Immediately after the shooting, Trump announced that despite his injury — a bullet pierced his ear — the RNC would go on as planned.

On Sunday — just a day after the incident — the former president landed in Milwaukee, ready for the event.

However, President Biden tested positive for Covid-19 on Wednesday, forcing him to cancel his campaign event in Las Vegas.

Jones, who served as special adviser on green jobs under Obama, contrasted Trump’s strengths with Biden’s weaknesses.

This prompted Keith Olbermann, a former MSNBC host, to call on CNN to fire Jones for complimenting Trump.

“HEY CNN,” Olbermann wrote in all caps on X.com. “FIRE THIS ASSHOLE/DICT/Trumpsucker @VanJones68 TONIGHT. Your other 837 viewers will settle for less.”

It’s not the first time the former MSNBC host has taken his frustration out on CNN.

Last month, after the debate, he advised that the network should be “burned.”[ed] down.’

“I am literally proposing that CNN at some point tonight — and it won’t — go off the air in shame, fire everybody, lock down the buildings, make sure everybody is gone and burn the whole thing to the ground,” he said.

Following the attempted assassination of Trump on Saturday, the former MSNBC host has written several posts on X.com disputing whether the GOP candidate was actually shot.

Olberman added that Jake Tapper and Dana Bash should be punished for their role as moderators of the debate. They should be “fired for journalistic malpractice.”

Olbermann wrote in a post: ‘WHY IS TRUMP LYING ABOUT THE ASSASSINATION ATTEMPT?’

He continued: ‘Five days later, there is still no confirmation, not even an anonymous statement, from the police or a medical authority that he was hit by a bullet.’

Then he added, “Why lie?”

After comparing Trump’s strengths to Biden’s weaknesses, Van Jones addressed the divisions within the Democratic Party.

After Biden’s disastrous performance during the presidential debate, there are growing calls within the Democratic Party to remove the president.

Recently, even leading members of the party, such as California Congressman Adam Schiff, have called on the president to withdraw from the race.

Still, Biden’s loyal supporters have called on him to stay in the race, and the president himself has announced that he wants to continue his campaign.

“This party’s nominees are taking a beating,” Jones said of the Republican Party.

“Biden is taking a beating from his own party,” he continued.

“The Democrats are falling apart. The Republicans are coming together. That’s what’s happening.”
