Food Network star Ina Garten and her husband, Jeffrey, played an adorable game to test their relationship knowledge on the occasion of their 55th wedding anniversary.
The couple married on December 22, 1968 and have been married ever since, living in East Hampton, New York.
In the new clipposted to the Barefoot Contessa star's Instagram page last week, the adorable couple played what they called the “not newlyweds” game, in which they both answered the same questions about their relationship history.
They wrote answers to the questions on whiteboards.
In an adorable new video on Instagram Reels, Ina Garten and Jeffrey celebrated their wedding anniversary with a 'not newlywed' game
In the game, they asked each other various questions about their relationship over the years
The first question asked the couple what each of them ordered on the first date.
Jeffrey first saw Ina, then 15 years old, when she was visiting her brother at Dartmouth College, where he happened to be studying at the time.
Later he sent her a letter with his photo attached, and the rest was history, he said TODAY.
“I know the answer to that, I wasn't old enough to drink anything,” Garten chuckled in the video clip, as they both wrote “coffee” as the answer on their respective whiteboards.
“You tried, but you didn't have ID,” Jeffrey said jokingly.
The next question asked them what the last book Ina read was.
Unfortunately, Jeffrey didn't seem to know the answer here and chuckled, “I have some confidence.”
According to the cookbook author herself, the last book she read was Rules of Civility by Amor Towles, a novel set in post-Depression New York City.
When asked what each other ordered on their first date, they both replied 'coffee'
The couple recently celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary and spent their Christmas together in Paris, France
During the game played on the Instagram Reel, they were also asked which food was Jeffrey's least favorite food, and which book Ina had last read
“Almost, but not quite,” Ina shot back, smiling.
“I knew it started with a 'C,'” Jeffrey replied.
They were then asked in the game which food item was Jeffrey's least favorite.
“Everything I don't make,” Ina wrote on her whiteboard.
However, Jeffrey had a more specific answer for his wife: He's not a big fan of her fish stew, it turns out.
“I made a really bad fish stew once,” Ina admitted.
Moving on to a more romantic question, they were asked who noticed the other first, to which Jeffrey had an extremely cute answer.
'I noticed Ina!!' Jeffrey wrote.
In the clip, they also answered what each other's secret to a long marriage was, with Jeffrey affectionately writing: 'Love Ina to death'
The beloved TV personality has lived in East Hampton, NY with her husband for many years
“Jeffrey definitely noticed me, and I didn't meet him for six months,” Ina said in the clip, showing a matching response on her whiteboard.
However, they had different answers to the next question, which asked, “Who is the most organized between the two of you?”
Jeffrey wrote to them both, while Ina wrote that it was actually her husband.
“Jeffrey is lying,” Ina said.
“No, you're very organized,” Jeffrey replied to his surprised-looking wife.
But they both seemed to agree on what each other's basic life philosophies were.
When asked what was Ina's, the famous chef wrote: 'Have fun!' while her husband said: 'Have fun and have many friends.'
For Jeffrey, Ina wrote, “Happy Wife, Happy Life,” while Jeffrey affectionately wrote “Love Ina.”
At the end of the video, Ina gave Jeffrey a cute and sweet kiss on the cheek
The couple, pictured above at their 1968 wedding, had many of the same answers during the “not newlyweds” game
They were then asked who noticed the other first, to which Jeffrey had an extremely cute response: “I noticed Ina!!”
They also agreed on what their perfect date together would be, concluding that it would be Ina cooking for Jeffrey in Paris.
Finally, they were asked what each other's secret was to a long marriage.
For Ina's secret, she simply wrote, “Marry Jeffrey,” while her husband wrote, “Love me to death.”
And for Jeffrey's secret to a long marriage, he wrote “Love Ina to death,” while she wrote, “Love me!”
“I'd say that's a pretty good secret, huh,” Garten said in closing, giving Jeffrey a sweet kiss on the cheek. 'Happy birthday.'
In the comments section, many admitted that their relationship was the definition of “relationship goals.”
“You guys have always been my relationship goals,” one person wrote. 'Since Barefoot Contessa Days.'
Another agreed: “I wish there was Jeffreys for everyone. Such a doll.'
For the final question in the clip, they were asked what each other's secret was to a long marriage
In the comments section of her Instagram reel, many users admitted that the two were “relationship goals.”
“I love how you two laugh together all the time! I told my husband we needed to laugh more. I think that's the secret of your marriage,” someone else wrote.
One Instagram Reels user wrote: 'They are the cutest couple!! Absolute relationship goals for everyone!!”
Actress Glenn Close also wished the couple well, writing: “HAPPY BIRTHDAY Jeffrey and Ina!”
During a recent interview with the BBC, Ina revealed why she and her husband decided not to have children together.
Ina, who grew up with a surgeon father and a dietician mother, has spoken about how her mother restricted her food as a child and didn't let her cook.
“I'm actually writing a memoir right now and I'm kind of looking back on my childhood – it wasn't anything I wanted to recreate,” the chef admitted.
'Looking back, I realize that many of my decisions were based on my childhood. That was really the motivating factor. And Jeffrey and I were so happy together.'
On Christmas Eve, Garten took to Instagram to share her and Jeffrey's trip to Paris to celebrate the holidays.
“Paris never disappoints,” Garten wrote in the caption. 'So happy to be back. Merry Christmas and happy holidays to everyone!'
