Images of first-class A380 ‘Suite’ on Singapore Airlines plane leave social media users in shock, as people joke: ‘I feel exceptionally bad seeing this’

Singapore Airlines ensures that flying first class is not just a means of transportation; it’s a destination in itself, with images of a luxury ‘suite’ sending social media users into a frenzy.

A video shared by a passenger shows an expansive cabin complete with a double bed, en suite bathroom, flat-screen TV, reclining leather armchair and complimentary teddy bears, leaving travelers both awe-struck and wallet-weary.

On paper, Singapore Airlines’ first-class ‘Suites’ cabin on the A380 Airbus is the best in the world for an aircraft.

In 2023, Singapore Airlines was named the World’s Best Airline at the Skytrax World Airline Awards – the ‘Oscars of Aviation’ – and won the gong for ‘World’s Best First Class’.

Within its fleet, the Airbus A380 is a symbol of extravagance, but to live like royalty means you also have to spend like royalty – as a ‘Suites’ seat in this airborne palace can cost up to $30,000 per flight.

Uploading a video Taking to Instagram in April, travel blogger Ale Zakarian – known as @ale.zakarian on the social media app – captured some of the finer details of his luxury cabin as he returned from a trip to Thailand.

The content creator, who hails from Argentina, captioned his post with: “Singapore Airlines First Class, the largest suites in the world! Impressive size of the room!’

As Ale is taken to his ‘Suite’ by an assigned flight attendant, he records the moment he enters his spacious cabin and is greeted by a double bed with white sheets and two pillows.

Two complimentary teddy bears are placed on the bed, while two reclining leather chairs sit on either side, along with a narrow desk mounted to the wall.

In the private bathroom, pink LED strip lighting sets the mood, while a Hollywood make-up mirror hangs above the sink and an array of toiletries are placed on a shelf.

Underneath a mini desk in the bathroom, a leather stool, complete with two additional mirrors, provides the passenger with a bright and spacious place to apply makeup, skin care and hair care.

Meanwhile, a toilet is located in its own space at the back of the bathroom, opposite another brightly lit mirror and a shelf of decorative plants.

As he walks back to the lounge area of the ‘Suite’, Ale sees an impressively large flat screen TV hanging above the end of the bed, as well as the delicious hot food and fruit and cheese platters included with his meal.

More than 10,000 comments were received from humble travelers sharing their thoughts on the ‘indulgent’ cabin – with many struggling with the extravagance on display, while others cited the staggering cost of the experience.

One wrote: ‘It would be so incredible to experience that,’ while another said: ‘I feel extremely poor just watching it.’

Some social media users joked about the sheer size of the hut, with one person writing: ‘Bigger than some people’s studio in London’, while another Londoner agreed, saying: ‘Better than my flat in London .’

A third person joked: ‘Is it also available with a balcony?’ while a fourth person commented: ‘I’ve stayed in smaller hotel rooms than this.’

However, a number of people shared their disgust at the excessive cost of a flight arriving ‘almost the same time’ as lower priced flights.

In October 2023, Japan Airlines unveiled its new first class cabins – with first class passengers also enjoying a double bed in their ‘exclusive’ suite in the sky.

Japan Airlines (JAL), which was named the fifth best airline in the world at the 2023 ‘Oscars of Aviation’, says the interior of the A350-1000 is designed “to immerse customers in the elegance of Japanese aesthetics and envelop them in tranquility, creating a serene atmosphere that encapsulates the beauty of Japan.

It says the new first and business class cabins are “spacious, yet completely private environments.”
