Delighted passengers sang ‘cheerio!’ to a pair of customers thrown off an easyJet flight that was forced to divert and make an unscheduled stop due to their allegedly raucous behavior last night.

EasyJet flight EZY3165 from Glasgow to Hurghada, Egypt, left its flight route last night and touched down in the Greek city of Heraklion after a couple reportedly got into a heated argument with fellow passengers.

Flight tracking data shows how the flight continued past mainland Greece across the Mediterranean Sea before returning and landing in Heraklion.

Footage taken and shared on social media by another passenger shows the couple being removed from the front of the plane.

Other customers unhappy with the layover started cheering before most of the cabin shouted “cheerio!” and started clapping for the officers who escorted the couple off the flight.

One traveler said of the couple’s behaviour: ‘It was terrible. They were arguing with other passengers for half an hour before the crew intervened.

“They were verbally abusive and threatening to the cabin crew… The woman was told to sit over the tannoy seven times when we landed, but she kept standing up,” said Michael McLennan, a British holidaymaker. The mirror.

The couple in question were arrested by Greek police after being rescued from the flight.

The easyJet Airbus A320-251N then continued to its original destination, landing in Hurghada this morning at 12:24 local time.

‘The flight then continued to Hurghada after the passengers had been removed.

‘EasyJet cabin crew are trained to assess and evaluate all situations and to act quickly and appropriately to ensure that the safety of the flight and other passengers is not compromised at any time.

“Although such incidents are rare, we take them very seriously and will not tolerate disruptive behavior on board.

‘The safety and well-being of passengers and crew is always easyJet’s top priority.’

It comes weeks after a flight from Manchester to Turkey was forced to divert to Serbia after an unruly passenger caused chaos on board.

Footage shared on social media by shocked customers showed a man appearing to shout at another passenger, pointing his finger and shouting expletives.

A woman is heard barking back and the pair went back and forth, increasing the volume and aggression as other passengers tried in vain to calm the situation.

It is unclear to what extent the argument escalated, but another video filmed as the plane sat on the tarmac in Belgrade showed police rushing into the cabin to drag away one of the passengers.

A struggle ensued and footage showed police bundling the unruly passenger to the ground before dragging him out of the cabin door.

Belgrade is more than 700 miles from Dalaman, with the detour causing a two-hour delay.

SunExpress said: ‘Our flight XQ505, scheduled for April 9 from Manchester to Dalaman, had to divert to Belgrade due to an unruly passenger.

‘Upon arrival, the passenger was taken off the plane by local police and after the passenger disembarked, the plane continued its way to Dalaman.

“The safety and security of our passengers and crew is SunExpress’s highest priority.”
