‘I’m freaking out!’ Kim Kardashian has a meltdown after almost missing Met Gala red carpet

After three weeks of manic training and dieting to fit into Marilyn Monroe’s iconic 1962 dress and using her family ties to try on the dress in the first place…Kim Kardashian almost missed her Met Gala Marilyn moment.

The 41-year-old reality star had laid out a detailed plan for a 10-minute walk down the Met Gala red carpet, leaving her hotel in just a robe and SKIMS so she could wear the original dress, owned by Ripley’s Believe It or Not.

That plan almost went to naught when Kim realized her driver had missed the drop off spot, leading to some rather undercover maneuvers so she could walk the red carpet however she wanted.

Kim revealed in an admission that she learned a “trick” at her last Met Gala: “bring a photographer and have a whole room set up and take pictures first.” You want a clean picture.’

“You have no idea in the Met who’s going to be in the background and what the lighting is going to be like and what it’s going to look like. There’s nothing worse than bad lighting on the red carpet,” Kim adds.

Kim had tried on a replica of the Marilyn dress earlier this season, but when she went to try on the original, it wouldn’t come up past her hips.

That led Kim to go on an extreme three-week workout regimen with a strict diet without any sugar, to drop the weight it took to fit into the dress.

But even after she dropped the weight, Kim teased that Ripley’s hair wouldn’t let it fit again, before Kris Jenner called her daughter.

“I flew all the way to Florida to try on the Marilyn dress at Ripley’s. They wouldn’t let me wear this dress. They wouldn’t even let me try it on until Kris Jenner calls,” Kim said in a confession.

Although she only wore the original dress briefly on the red carpet, she changed into a replica for the rest of the night, though it sparked controversy when the original dress was revealed to be slightly damaged.

Ripley’s lent the dress to Kim for the Met Gala, with Kim reportedly losing more than 16 pounds to fit into the dress for the bash.

The event became controversial a month after the Met, when before-and-after photos revealed that some of the embedded crystals were now missing and there was also reported damage to one of the dress’s zippers.

Despite the photos, Ripley’s issued a statement claiming “she did not damage the garment in any way in the short time it was worn at the Met Gala.”
