I’m a ‘lazy mom’ – I have dirty diapers and old food all over my bedroom floor but I’m FINALLY cleaning up
A self-described “lazy stay-at-home mom” has sparked controversy after sharing a series of unfiltered and realistic parenting videos, one of which shows her cleaning her filthy bedroom – filled with dirty diapers and food sticking to the floor.
Mother of two Amanda Rose, 25, shared a TikTok of the gigantic cleaning of her ‘depression room’, which hadn’t been completely cleaned in two months.
In the clip, she showed the full extent of the filthy room, with dirty diapers on the floor and a bed that hadn’t been stripped in weeks.
“I call my room a depression room because it reminds me of a cave,” Amanda said in the video, which has been viewed more than 3.6 million times.
Mom-of-two Amanda hadn’t cleaned her bedroom properly in two months and decided to film the giant cleanup for a TikTok video
Amanda started throwing out all the trash on her dresser and floor, saying things literally stuck to her feet
Known for her “Lazy Stay At Home Mom” videos, Amanda says she often “eats and sleeps” in the room — which is why so much dirt and rubbish has accumulated.
“(I) spend most of my time in this room,” the mother, who shares two six-year-old daughters and one with her husband, told viewers.
Amanda’s epic cleaning spree began with throwing out all the trash that was in the dresser drawer, admitting that they were “literally” stuck to the surface and that “s*** stuck to her feet.”
“There were candy and chips on the floor, and diapers on the floor,” the mom vlogger continued. “All these clothes (on the floor) were clean but now dirty because they had been on the floor too long.”
After two months of the garbage getting bigger and the piles of clothes getting bigger and bigger, Amanda decided to tidy up her room. She started her marathon cleaning spree by opening the blinds to let in some sun.
“The very first thing I did was clean out my dresser, then work on my junk corner,” she said in the voiceover. “I hate to say it, but my junk corner is the worst place in the whole room.”
Her next job was to wash her bedding, strip it completely down to the mattress, and wash everything.
“I think the last time I made my bed was maybe two months ago,” the stay-at-home mom admitted.
Amanda is known for her “Lazy Stay At Home Mom” videos, in which she takes followers through various cooking and cleaning tasks in her home
Cleaning her room was a huge job for the 25-year-old, who said she often ‘eats and sleeps’ in the ‘cave-like’ room – which is why it was so dirty
Her next job was to strip the bed and wash the linens — something else Amanda noted she hadn’t done for “maybe two months.”
After cleaning her bedroom, Amanda proceeded to tackle her bathroom, which she admitted hadn’t been cleaned since she last applied her makeup “two weeks ago.”
Her transformation left people baffled and praised her realistic view of parenting and stay-at-home motherhood
The mother-of-two’s followers thanked her for sharing authentic parenting videos
The video has been viewed more than 3.7 million times since it was posted on August 24, with thousands of users commenting on the clip. Many thanked the mother for her authentic messages
While many users cheered for the mother, some were in disbelief at the state of her home
After the floor was clean, Amanda started vacuuming the floor – another task she had been neglecting for “a few weeks.”
It didn’t stop at the bedroom, but the young mother then tackled that, which she felt was “just as bad” as her bedroom.
“To make matters worse, I haven’t done any makeup in two weeks,” she joked, sorting bottles of makeup and products on the bathroom counter.
“So all that makeup mess has been there for two weeks.”
“My worst habit is picking things up and not putting them back,” Amanda admitted.
After cleaning the counter top, she swept and took out the trash. She commented that “surprisingly” it didn’t take as long as she expected.
The video garnered more than 2,000 comments and 340,000 likes, with many praising the mom for her realistic take on parenting.
“Thanks for being so raw and real,” one TikTok user wrote. “It’s nice to see this instead of spotless, clean houses.”
“Thanks Amanda, you make me feel seen!!!! It’s so valuable to see someone so recognizable, not because they’re aesthetically pleasing!!!’ another gushed.
“Girl, that cleanup after coming out of a depression episode is so damn therapeutic!” said one user. “I just experienced it myself. I’m glad someone is normalizing this!’
Others were disgusted by the mother’s house and asked why she hadn’t bothered to clean it sooner.
“Does your husband agree with that disgusting mess?” How do you eat where you sleep? That is so disgusting,” said a shocked TikToker.
“I could never raise children, sleep, eat or get clean in such a house,” said another.
“If you think this is normal, you’re dirty.” someone else wrote.
Amanda has also posted videos of her cleaning her car and organizing her kitchen closet, earning praise from her followers who are inspired to start cleaning and organizing trips on her own.
“I love how this space on TikTok also gives you the motivation to clean up little by little,” praised one user.
