The best travel items for flight attendants

  1. Take a reusable water bottle
  2. Take a sweater or blanket
  3. Bring a pen to fill out any forms you need when you arrive
  4. Bring noise-canceling headphones
  5. Get a portable charger

Bernice explains, “May and September are great months to travel as it is before and after peak summer here in the US.

‘You have fewer crowds and affordable prices, but the weather is still nice.

‘Each country has its specific shoulder season, so I recommend doing some research before booking.’

She also urged holidaymakers to book flights as early as possible as these are much less likely to be delayed.

‘I always take the earliest possible flight so there are fewer delays. If delays occur, there will be a domino effect.

‘Suppose there is a delay in California because of the weather, my flight can’t leave here until that flight leaves.

‘Everything trickles down, while if you fly early your plane has been there since the night before.’

Elsewhere, the frequent flyer revealed that Europe is a popular destination for US travelers in the US, but said people should try to book holidays in places that are ‘overlooked’.

She said: ‘Everyone likes to go to London, Rome, Paris and Barcelona.

“I think there are a lot of great places people can go to that are being overlooked.

‘For example, I’m going to Argentina in a few weeks, I think it’s good to book places that are not so popular with tourists.

‘Even people still want to visit Europe. There are so many places that are not as popular as Albania and countries on the coast.”

But Bernice’s tips didn’t stop there, because when it comes to packing, she advised people to travel light with carry-on luggage only.

If that’s not possible, Bernice lives on compression cubes.

She said: ‘I still have a problem with overpacking, but I try not to pack so much.

‘What I do recommend is trying to travel with a carry-on, especially in the summer.

‘If that is not possible, I always travel with compression cubes, so you can fit more in your suitcase.
