America’s worst-airlines revealed – with two repeat offenders continuing to receive more complaints than their rivals

A new study revealed America’s worst airlines, and two airlines in particular scored particularly poorly.

The results of an annual customer satisfaction survey show that Spirit Airlines and Frontier Airlines rank in the bottom two places.

The companies once hoped for a merger, but the discount carriers have since been dogged by negative publicity and unsavory incidents.

The study took into account a wide range of criteria, including baggage handling, call centers, the boarding process, the quality of inflight meals and the overall cleanliness of aircraft cabins and bathrooms.

They also took into account airline loyalty programs, overhead storage, seat comfort, mobile apps and staff performance at the gates and ticket counters.

Spirit Airlines and Frontier Airlines were ranked as the worst and second-worst airlines in a new study conducted by researchers

The Ann Arbor, Mich.-based CFI Group, which conducted the study, said Spirit and Frontier couldn’t avoid being “at the bottom of the industry” despite some improvements.

Spirit Airline, which finished last, has gone through a long period of market turmoil. Two of their proposed mergers did not come to fruition.

In January, after a US judge blocked Spirit Airline’s planned merger with JetBlue, which provided a life raft of sorts for the beleaguered airline, their shares plunged 17 percent.

Spirit Airlines has not turned a profit since the pandemic, and they will soon be forced to contend with $1.1 billion in debt maturing next year.

But the discount airline’s problems are not limited to financial problems.

Both Spirit and Frontier Airlines have suffered a spate of unfortunate incidents, ranging from unsanitary leaks on planes to violent brawls in terminals and on board.

Earlier today, passengers on a Spirit Airlines flight from Atlanta to Newark were turned away when they noticed a mysterious liquid leaking from the toilet and making its way down the cabin.

The rankings were based on numerous criteria, including baggage handling, call centers, the boarding process, the quality of inflight meals and the overall cleanliness of the aircraft cabins and bathrooms. Last February, a huge brawl broke out after a Spirit Airlines flight

An airline spokesperson attributed the leak to “a problem with a drinking water line connected to a sink in the rear lavatory.”

Last February, Spirit Airlines officers traded blows with unruly passengers as they boarded a flight in a wild video exclusively obtained by DailyMail.com.

And in December, an impatient passenger was in such a hurry to disembark that he stepped over the man next to him.

Before that, in May, there was more bad press for the airline when a six-month pregnant passenger attacked an employee after being told she couldn’t board a plane after threatening a gate agent.

Spirit Airlines is not alone. Like Spirit, Frontier, the second worst airline, has seen its fair share of negative news.

Last July, shocking footage emerged of a brutal mid-air brawl on a Frontier Airlines flight that culminated in an emergency landing.

The footage shows flight attendants attempting to restrain two female passengers as they shout obscenities and try to flag down other travelers on Flight 2143.

The flight from Philadelphia to Las Vegas was diverted to Denver, where “two passengers traveling together” were removed from the flight and turned over to police, the airline told DailyMail.com.

The video does not show what caused the dust cloud, with the footage beginning with one of the warring factions in a red tank top shouting at the top of their lungs as other passengers loudly shushed and berated her.

Frontier Airlines flight attendants tried to appease the women three times before more drastic measures were taken.

The footage stopped as the women were taken off the plane, with tensions on board clearly visible as the woman in red tried to mock the other woman as she was led away.

After she said “get them out of here,” the packed plane immediately erupted, told her to “shut up” and loudly shushed her.
