- Days after the alleged assault, he was pictured with a mysterious woman
Harry Garside has been hit with a provisional restraining order after being accused of assaulting his ex-girlfriend – as an interview the alleged victim gave about an unrelated, previously violent incident involving another man comes to light.
The 25-year-old boxer, an Olympic bronze medalist, has been charged with assaulting wellness coach and fitness trainer Ashley Ruscoe at her home in Bellevue Hill, eastern Sydney, on March 1.
It was reported on Wednesday that police will allege Garside hit his former partner on the head with his elbow and spat in her face and there was a cell phone collision.
Garside was arrested on Tuesday night flying into Sydney Airport as he was traveling home from South Africa, where he had been voted number two on the reality TV show I’m a Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here just hours earlier .
Daily Mail Australia can reveal that police beat the 25-year-old with a preliminary AVO. He also received conditional bail on the assault charge and has pledged to defend it. He is due to appear in local court at Downing Center on May 24.
Four days after he was charged with assaulting Ms Ruscoe, a barefoot Garside was photographed deep in conversation with a friend in Rose Bay, Sydney’s east.

It comes as video surfaces of Garside’s ex-girlfriend describing how surviving a previous violent incident had changed her life forever.
Ms Ruscoe said the alleged incident was the ‘best thing’ that had ever happened to her and had been the inspiration behind her personal training company ‘Hit Like A Girl’.
“I felt super powerless, and I think as a woman experiencing… violence, so many women experience it in some way,” she said while appearing on the King Beats Fitness podcast in March 2022.
“So when I experienced it, I thought, what is the one thing that will make myself stronger again, and that was through martial arts.
“I thought, I’m going to set up a business based on empowering other women and men, and I want to pass that on.”

In another interview, the personal trainer said surviving one of the toughest times in her life had given her the opportunity to help others.
“In hindsight, that was the best way I could have handled it, to channel that energy into helping others, I think that’s really important,” she said.
“It puts everything into perspective and it takes away the shift from yourself and the sadness from yourself and you can feel gratitude for helping someone else.”
It is not suggested that Garside had anything to do with the previous incident described by Mrs. Ruscoe.
The couple dated for about 18 months before splitting earlier this year.
Garside was questioned about the alleged domestic violence incident as he left a police station in Sydney on Tuesday night.
When asked if he intended to fight the charges, he said, “Of course.”
