I’m A Celeb South Africa: Shaun Ryder receives a telling off from Fatima Whitbread about his snoring

Shaun Ryder received a warning from his camp mates on Tuesday’s episode of I’m A Celeb South Africa after keeping them awake with his loud snores.

The Happy Mondays star, 60, then got a scare from fellow contestant and Olympic athlete Fatima Whitbread, who had no choice but to shake him.

But as she did, she disturbed Shaun’s sleep, frightening him on their first night at camp.

She later said, “It sounded like someone drowning underwater”

Fans found the incident hilarious, with one penning on Twitter: ‘Lmao the way Fatima stared at Shaun snorting’

Another said, ‘I can face any number of spiders, snakes and rats. But Shaun Ryder snores? ABSOLUTELY NOT!’

Shaun was left screaming in pain after he tried to get out of bed, only to hear a huge bang.

Shaun, who was already very dissatisfied with the return of his old rival Gillian McKeith on Monday, also had a bad time in the show’s second episode.

While trying to get out of bed, Shaun suddenly experienced severe pain after his replacement hip suddenly popped out.

He yelled, “My f***ing hip!” as Princess Diana’s former butler, Paul Burrell, and cricketing legend Phil Tufnell rushed to his rescue, exclaiming, “I heard that!” Are you okay, boy?’

Fortunately, Shaun recovered quickly to reassure his campmates, including a very shocked Carol Vorderman, that everything was fine.

He managed to get up and said, “It’s fine, it’s fine, it went back.”

Phil later told The Telegraph: ‘I suddenly heard this almighty bang.

“I mean, it was kind of seismic. And then, for about a minute, he turned into Shakin’ Stevens.

Shaun, who placed second in his original season, said, “I’d been there two nights and boom, damn it, my hip had popped out.”

“I pushed it back myself. I didn’t want to see a doctor. Paul Burrell helped me, he was a professional.’

In Monday’s episode, Shaun was cooking when Gillian McKeith made a surprise arrival at camp, after the pair got into furious arguments during their first run in 2010.

The TV personality’s arrival at camp for the all-star spin-off show was not well received, with Shaun telling the other stars of their first run together, “I almost killed her!”

In the last few minutes of the first episode of this new series, Geordie duo Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly entered the camp to announce they had a surprise for the celebrities in attendance.

Television nutritionist Gillian, 63, was then seen emerging from a container after being brought in by several men carrying the box.

In a preview for Tuesday’s episode, singer Shaun, who was known for feuding with Gillian during his original run, appeared to boil as he remembered his time with her.

“Gillian arrived in a box, she should have stayed in the box,” he exclaimed.

During the duo’s raging quarrels in 2010, Shaun labeled the Scot “f****** annoying” before telling presenters Ant and Dec: “If Gillian were my wife she’d be in pieces in a plastic bag, deep in a hole in the backyard.’

Despite a potentially shaky start with Shaun, Gillian insisted she was determined to stay strong during her time on the show, which was pre-recorded in South Africa’s Kruger National Park last year.

After famously passing out during a live trial on I’m A Celebrity 12 years ago, Gillian admitted she only accepted an offer to return because she wants to represent “all the terrifying cats in Britain.”

Before stepping foot in the camp, Gillian revealed she was “absolutely terrified and terrified” of appearing for a second time in the series where she voted for eight consecutive trials.

However, Gillian insisted that her fainting was not made up, so she would not have to take another tough Bushtucker trial in 2010.

In the final series of the original format, former England footballer Jill Scott became queen of the jungle.
