Idris Elba was the charismatic leading man to every inch on Wednesday when he directed a host of stars at the world premiere of his film Luther: The Fallen Sun, held at the BFI IMAX, Waterloo in London.

The actor, 50, cut a graceful figure while wearing a mauve satin suit as he posed alongside his glamorous wife Sabrina Dhowre Elba, 34, and stunning co-star Cynthia Erivo, 36.

Idris reached out to Sabrina as they smiled for snaps on the red carpet as fans gathered to catch a glimpse of the stars of the film, which has been adapted from the hit BBC series.

Idris returns once more as DCI John Luther, last seen being sent to prison in the dramatic BBC series finale.

The star previously gave fans a taste of what to expect in the new movie, revealing that it will follow his ‘haunted’ character who was sent to prison in the 2019 finale.

He said entertainment weekly: ‘He has done so much to bend the law in order to catch the bad guys that he has ended up in jail.

So that’s where we start the story. He is contemplating what he is going to do with his life.

Meanwhile, Idris also spoke to Empire Magazine about the ‘dangers’ of moving the psychological crime thriller from TV to film.

He said: ‘It’s really dangerous when you expand from TV to film to throw a lot of money at it and at that point change the features of the show.

“I wanted to make sure that even though we had a bigger budget, we didn’t skew the parameters of Luther-land too much.”

“We got off the gritty streets of London, we took it a bit outside of that,” he shared.

He is also serving as a producer on the film, which was directed by Jamie Payne and written by Neil Cross, and will also star Andy Serkis and Cynthia Erivo.
