The iconic reality show is being rebooted by Channel 4 after a decade off the air – and applications are now open

An iconic reality show returns to TV after nearly a decade off the air.

Channel 4 has given Four Weddings a fresh start after seeing the success of its shows Married At First Sight and BBC’s Don’t Tell The Bride.

Now applications are reportedly open, with casting agents eager to get in touch with those getting married for a chance to be on the show.

The program sees a quartet of brides and grooms cheekily rank each other’s nuptials – but there’s going to be a major twist this time.

In the previous show, which originally aired on Sky Living from 2009 to 2013 in the UK, the newlyweds all gathered at an airport where they found out who won and was about to leave on a luxury honeymoon.

But bosses are said to have stepped up the competition with a cash prize of £50,000, which they can spend as they please.

With a shiny new revamp, sources say The sun the show will go into production later this year.

A source told the publication, “Producers have seen the success of Married At First Sight and want to make Four Weddings a hit with even more drama than the original.

“Everyone loves a wedding show, especially after the success of Don’t Tell The Bride.”

MailOnline has contacted Channel 4 for comment.

If we add that casting agencies are currently on the hunt for their brides and grooms all over the UK, the scope would be even wider the second time around.

Hoping to add a mix of both different and same-sex marriages to the show, casters would be looking for some characters to bring the drama and fun.

The show typically gives four couples the chance to see how their weddings compare to each other.

They are followed by a camera crew as they attend each other’s weddings, before voting on which was the best – in a format similar to other Channel 4 shows Come Dine With Me and Four In A Bed.

Whichever couple wins will receive the prize of a lavish honeymoon on the house, as they are taken on the journey of their dreams.

Faye spoke out about her decision to do the show, admitting that she had been approached and her wedding happened to have already been planned for the time frame of the show.

The 2010 episode also featured Big Brother’s Pete Bennett marrying his former partner Gemma Rattus, while Eastenders actress Carol Harrison also had her big day on the show.

But it was glamor model Michelle Marsh who took the show’s victory as she renewed her vows with footballer Will Haining in a lavish ceremony, with the prize money donated to charity.
